Daisy Mae is still not sleeping!! :puppy:

It's been 21 days since we got Daisy Mae and she is still NOT sleeping through the night. I am so tired and crabby. I am not online as much because of this. Her crate is plenty big enough, but I am getting her a bigger one tonight. My sister's dog is no longer in a crate. She will be in an adult crate as of tonight. She has toys, and bones and blanket in there with her. I've tried TV being left on. I tried the radio. I tried CD's. I am not going to spend the money on a little ticking clock. I was up with her until 10:30 last night. I put her to bed and she slept until 11:30. I was just dozing off. So, I got back up with her and was up until 1:30. I think I managed to fall asleep at 2:00 only to hear the alarm, I mean the BARKING at 5:45. I just gave up and threw the dogs outside for the day. I want so badly to go back to bed. But ~ my pharmacy is hiring a full time assistant and I want to go in town and be there at 9:00 when they open. I will be coming home and sleeping after that. Tonight is huby's night to get up with her. Another Tylenol PM night for me.

It just might be that the only way to break this cycle is to pick a night when it won't hurt if everyone in the family is awake most of the night and put her in her crate and ignore her. Unfortunately, she is learning that night time is play time and it may be difficult to break this habit.

You might also talk to your vet about a mild sedative for her for a few nights.

Sending an encouraging hug,
Donna

Just like a baby....getting days and nights mixed up. Yep...the only way out of this is to let her bark until she falls, exhausted, to sleep. Where is her crate? Is it in another room where she is all alone? How about a night light? Then, again, maybe a good bonk :bonk: on the head would work. Just kidding...I love that one and was waiting for an excuse to use it. :D
