Oh my gosh! The side affects from Uristat are ridiculous. Dizziness, burping and the really bad headache. Today I got a migraine from it. I can't use it anymore. But it was REALLY working for the pressure and frequency and spasms. I felt almost normal.

Does anyone have other suggestions? I can talk to my GP about temporary use of another drug until I get to see the uro/gyno next month. My main complaint is spasms and feeling like an elephant is constantly stepping on my bladder. I tried Elavil but had a "manic" reaction to it with racing thoughts and high BP. Elavil worked for my bladder. I take Motrin for pain and it's working fine. What other options work for others here? Vesicare? Enablex?

Gotta go now. Literally!

Thanks - Angela

All of the following are Rx meds...many say that they get similar or better relief than with Uristat/Pyridium with one of these:
Prosed DS
Urelle
Utira-C
UTA (have found that only CVS carries it in my area, but not Walmart or Walgreens...tho they said they could order it)

Possibly trying just one tab instead of the two that is the usual dose of Uristat? Maybe that would still be effective but reduce the side effects.

Hope this helps!

Pyridium used to give me a nasty abdominal pain that would double me over for about 10 minutes (usually about an hour after taking it). Once I started taking it with food, the problem went away. Don't know if that helps...

I have not experienced this myself and seem to tolerate Pyridium/Uristat/AZO Standard very well whether on empty stomach or after eating...but I HAVE seen MANY posts by members here on ICN who say it helps them very much to take after eating to avoid such symptoms, like Kadi said. Also it is recommended to take with a full glass of water. Hope you find what works for you without the side effects, Angela!
