HI there,
I thought it was "just" IBS but after a blood test where they checked the reactions to 184 food items with antibodies IgG, they found out that I am allergic to:
wheat
corn
milk
cheeses
egg
pepper
some nuts
camomile (!)
tea (!)
and lots of other stuff!!
Has anyone had the same test? Which symptoms will improve after working out a personal diet?
Thanks!
xx
I had a scratch test done on my back & came up allergic to: fish, shellfish, treenuts, peanuts, legumes (beans & peas), soy. Later became allergic to avocado & latex as well.
After removing these foods from my diet, I had less incidents of hives & itching.
It didn't make a huge difference in my IC, but maybe a small one.

I have a few food allergies, but I found mine by elimination diet. Did they tell you how severe the allergies are? I think corn is the hardest to stay away from --- it's in sooooo many things.

This is an interesting thread. I have been very curious lately about the possibility of food allergies and a relationship to IC. Do any of you know if there is more information I can read about this, and where? Do many IC patients have food allergies? Thanks.

How did you find out you were allergic to these things? I am very interested. Did your IC improve when you removed them from your diet? Thanks.

Was this the "ELISA" blood test? My previous dr. did one, & I found it to be very inaccurate. For example, foods I know I am allergic to that cause hives, came up negative on the test. And foods I eat with no problem, such as eggs, came up positive.
I believe this is still a controversial test.

I am not sure the name of the test. A small needle was injected just under the surface of my skin. I was found to be allergic to wheat and corn(gives me hives). Since finding out I have IC I have completely eliminated corn, but ocasionally cheat and have pasta. I have noticed that I will have mild IC symtoms if I over do the wheat.
