Well I finally found something that takes the blue off of the toilet bowl from taking Prosed DS!!!!! I can't believe how excited I am over something so trivial, but I was wondering when I would have to replace my toilets!!!! I was in Kroger (Grocery chain here in Indy), in the mop/cleaning prods section, and saw this hanging there. It is called Pumi. It's a pumice stone for cleaning hard surfaces like porcelain ie... You can get it on a handle or just the stone. I got just the stone. It says right on the package that it gets out stains on hard surfaces where other cleansers failed. So I thought what have I got to lose. You just scrub where the stains are and poof they are gone. It doesn't scratch the surface either as toilets are usually very hard porcelain. You can't use it on a softer sufaces as it would scratch or on plastic. It tells you what you can use it on and what it's good for. I finally have a white bowl again. Yeah!!! Just thought I'd share this with you as I remember other people talking about this before. If it's not in your grocery you can probably buy it at a hardware store. Remember it's only for the inside of your toilet bowl. Not the seat or anything. Oh yes and I find windex can get the blue spots off the seat, but it still leaves a little blue tinge. You have to rub hard. It get out the orange from Uristat too, but as I said you still can see a faint trace. I don't mind replacing the seat every now and again, but the bowl is another matter!!!! You can google it for more info.

I didn't know the blue would stain. I use vinegar to remove pyridium orange from the toilet and it works really well.

Wow vinegar. I never thought to try that. That will be my next project. LOL

Goldfinch, I hope it works as well as it did for me. The blue was all in the front of my toilet, and I hated it. It takes a little arm work, but not much really. I was so happy as two of my toilets had the blue. I think the dye attaches itself to hard water deposits, and the pumice removes hard water stains so if your toilet has a rust mark or hard water marks it removes those too. Apparently plumbers and contractors use it to remove all kinds of things off of hard surfaces.

Yes Donna the metheline blue or whatever it is that's in Prosed or Urised stains the toilet. Actually I'm going out of town in April and I don't want to use Prosed because I'm afraid it will stain my brothers brand new toilet (he refinished his bathroom). Continuous use makes it worse though. I tried the powder comet with bleach, I tried bleach, I tried scrubbing so hard I thought my arm would fall off, and nothing would take it away until today. I actually hesitated taking Prosed because I didn't want to ruin our toilets.

BTW does anyone know the long term effects from taking Prosed? It really helps my symptoms, but it worries me to take something like this long term.

I was prescribed Prosed by my former Uro for up to 4 times per day as needed. I too worried about the long term effect, however my research showed it is safe to take this often because it is not processed through the liver. You might want to ask your own doctor about this.

I've never had perm stains from Urelle, either. I use bleach based cleaning products for the toilet, and it comes right out.

We have very hard water here, and I believe it attaches itself in the bowl, and then the blue attaches itself to the hard water. Bleach would not remove it for me. I tried everything including comet granules with bleach. I even have a water softener in our home!!!

I just buy those blue colored cleaning tablets that you drop in tank. Why scrub when you can mask the stain?!!!

good one :lmao:
What I have found that helps prevent pyridium stains in the bowl is to flush while I am peeing. And then flush again to get any residual orange out.
LOL blue and orange would probably make brown, so probably these blue toilet tabs not an option for me! And I don't think they come in orange.

I usually have hand sanitizer in my purse....I have been on knees scrubbing stain off of someone else's toilet seat before lol...the hand sanitizer has helped remove the stains on the seats.
