This is an old clinical study (2001), but I thought it was still worth it to post in the Symptoms of IC section for all IC sufferers who are struggling with frequency and urgency, but not necessarily suffering from a lot of actual bladder pain.

It claims that "Pelvic Floor Myofascial Physical Therapy" definitely helps:

Conclusions

Pelvic floor manual therapy for decreasing pelvic floor hypertonus effectively ameliorates the symptoms of the urgency/frequency syndrome and interstitial cystitis.

(BTW: I also posted this in the Physical Therapy Section.)

Oh my God thank you so much I'm going to talk to my doctor about Physical Therapy...I don't have pain at all and alot of advice I get is targeted towards Pain and I really don't have any (I guess I was spared) but things like Xanax and Vicidin aren't going to help me because its nothing to help. I have the extreme frequncy. About onces every 1 1/2 hour when i'm doing GREAT yea you herd right, on my good days i got once evey 1 1/2 hour not fun. On my flares OH GOED :help: Im on one right now and I got about four times an hour during the day and atleast once an hour during the night its mind crushing and alot of the treatmets just aren't working for the frequncy and the urologist I had been seeing prior to the one I'm with now would not get it through his head that I didn't have pain and I didn't have a urinary tract infections. The man put so many antibiotic in me I swear if really get a UT its going to be terrible because probally have a tolerence to the antibiotics....maybe one of the times he tested I had a UT but this man was telling me I had one every visit and I saw him twice a month INSANE!:loco:

But I never thought of Physical therpy but I do have alot of pelvic floor stuff going on and my doctor has found that I have alot of painful trigger point during his exams(he learn that when i almost kicked him in the face...not on purpose of course:angel:) If you get anymore infomation on treatments geard toward pelvic floor and the freequncy part of Ic I'd be greatful. Its 4AM in New York and I'm seriouslly am going to call my doctor and ask him about the therpy. Thanks so much, Ive been here one day and I've already found some really great people, I love it

I am currently doing PT for PFD. I only have frequency. Not a lot of pain. Sometimes, some muscular pain, but not bladder pain. I've been doing PT for almost a month now, and my pelvic pain has subsided a great deal. I still have major frequency, though. I'll let you know what happens!
