Was told that elmiron pills were to be used for the instills that I was to bring, but the problem is, I get withdrawls if I don't take every 12 hours as prescribed and how does this go into effect with having them this way as well? It gets in there a different way and it's not like I'm prescribed extra medication. Not sure what to do about that one... Oh yeah guys, here's something that will make many of you laugh. My URO GYN told me that side effects are rare from Elmiron for most people. Good one... I must be one of the many rare, including most of what I've read on here. :)

You and me both are rare ones then. lol I had every side effect there was each time I tried taking the elmiron and tried 3 seperate times in different years. I don't understand why having it done with instills if you are taking them by mouth? I never had any withdrawl problems from stopping the elmiron too. Maybe you could ask trying the heparin instead? My Uro wouldn't do the elmiron and heparin together because he said they both were the same. Sure is strange how doctors are so different.

DIdn't make sense to me to use it because it never worked orally yet. He told me that it would make it to my bladder easily and absorb, etc. when by instill instead.

I had to stop taking elmiron after six months due to a side effect (headache). I did not have any withdrawal symptoms at all. And only a small percentage of people do have side effects from elmiron --- but it's the ones who do have a problem that we hear from.
I hope the instills will help.
