Can I possibly have IC if my pain is a 5 one day, not bad;
10 the next day, I want to die;
and 5 the day after that, not bad again?
Can the pain levels change so much from day to day?
If my urethral mucosa is so damaged to give me pain that I cannot stand one day, but be almost OK the very next, and then get really bad the day after that, how could my mucosa be healing one day, then inflamed the next?
Is this even possible with IC?
Does this mean I have something else?

For as long as I've had IC my pain has changed intensity, frequency, and location on daily if not hourly basis. I can go months with no pain and then be walking through a store and bam...pain level of 10. Then the next day be at like a 2 and then that night be at around a 5. I have NO explanation for this...I guess we can add it to one of the annoying mysteries of IC.

I hope your pain level stays low!

If you are experiencing any of the things that are considered triggers such as certain foods, drink, stress, sex etc.... yes your pain level can fluctuate! I was told to have my meds handy because a flare could arise at any moment. And I've seen that it does come on even if something quickly stresses me the bladder pain suddenly begins. I'm learning to watch everything I eat and drink and how I handle sex and stress to avoid pain levels of 10.

Best Wishes.

Are you following an IC diet? If not, I suggest you begin today.

One thing you can try is to keep a detailed diary, listing everything that goes into your mouth, activities, pain levels --- be sure to record times. It's very possible you can find what's triggering increases in pain.

So it is possible to have a pain level of 5 one day, and 10 the next, and then down to a 5 the day after that?
Thanks.
