Hi there,

After one long awful year I have finally my life back!! I am a little bit wary to declare that I am in remission, but what the hell!! I've been pain free for nearly a month now.

I had tonnes of chocolate, coffee, pizza with tomato (in moderation) and had no pain!! I am still scared to have orange juice and those kind of things, though.

Lyrica for me worked from day 1 and gave me the longest pain free period since everything started. I hope that its going to last.

I am enjoying the present and I am happ that at least for a while I have my life back... I start to feel myself again, instead than a shapeless whiny and suffering thing.

This also made me think of the causes.. if lyrica works, does it mean that the problem is neurological? Is my mitral valve prolapse (which usually causes out of balance nervouse system) related to it?

Anyway, I wish pain free days to all of you, and for the rest of you hope that life can stike again better than before! :)

Lryica has also been very helpful to me.. I still do have flares I believe they are related to my hormones though because I seem to have them twice a month around the same time every month.. I am also still aware of my bladder.. BUT it is s BIG improvement from where I was before the Lyrica..It also has helped cut my fibro pain to almost NOTHING and my Vulvodynia pain in half.. I am very happy with being on Lyrica!!

SO glad it has helped you ! :smile tee

I see 2 of you that have had lyrica success. It sounds as if you take it for a few days you know if it works or not? Has anyone eliminated other drugs or do you think there is synergy? Thanks for any info/ PV

Lyrica works on the nerves...so it means that a large part of your IC symptoms were nerve pain or related to it. I love Lyrica and am greatly helped by it. Treating the pain can allow you to relax and give your body a chance to heal so hopefully the remission is long term!
There are many of us that could possibly have some Neurological basis to our problem...but realize if their is visual damage to the bladder that it is only part of the problem.
As someone else in remission with the help of Lyrica....although orange juice doesn't kill me at this point I wouldn't do it without prelief....it is noticeable...but at least not what it would have done to me before!

I have tried many other drugs and Lyrica has been the one that has worked best for me.. I was taking 6 drugs at one time for IC and was not getting near the relief I am getting with Lyrica.. I am now only on Lyrica, Topamax and Glucosamine/MSM. I continued the Topamax for one I have migraines. I do not know if it really helped IC pain, I was having some shooting pains that it stopped but do not know if that was IC or endo..But whatever was causing it after I started the Topamax it stopped.. So I have decided to stay on it along with the Lyrica and I wanted something to help the bladder wall and I could not take Elmiron so I decided on an Alternative which was the Glucosamine/MSM..

My uro wouldn't let me try it because she said it's close to neurontin, and I didn't like the side effects of Neurontin. Do you agree? I'll go to my regular MD to see if they prescribe it to me instead. Can we obtain samples from our docs?

Forgot to ask again Leelee. You are on a low dose right? 25mg? What time of the day do you take it. I have trouble sleeping with many meds. Will this one cause sleep trouble?

glassd18, They are in the same class of meds.. BUT that is just like Tofranil and Elavil Same class of meds.. But I could take Tofranil and could not take Elavil..Also I have a IC friend who can take Neurontin but cannot take Lyrica. SO I just do not agree on that Theory that some Drs give..I think our bodies react to all meds differently..BUT this is just MY opinion!!

I take it in the morning! Lyrica makes me hyper..I know it usually makes people tired.. But My system is crazy like that.. Just like Atarax and antihistamines do not make me tired..And yes I am on the lowest dose possible..25mg once a day.. Now if I do have a flare I can take 2 a day..

Also let me mention this.. The first couple of days on Lyrica were foggy and I did not like the feeling.. BUT I pushed through it.. I had noticed even though I was feeling a little funny that my body was feeling really good and my pain level was way down.. This made me want to get past the weird feeling it was giving me.. Within a few days all that was gone and I was feeling normal and the pain was very minimal..

Gosh, so many people are having success with the Lyrica that I really wished it had worked for me...:(

But, I took it for over 2-weeks, and it didn't touch my pain at all, plus it had some really bad side-effects: weird "stinging" little pains in my face, fingers, toes and the tops of my feet, but more importantly, it gave me nausea every time I ate solid food and it was triggering my IBS to the point that I was having attacks several times a week! Not good; not good at all!

But, good for you! I am happy to know that it has helped you so much--as well as all the other people who are having such success!

I agree with Ronda...we react to all meds differently. Also, I reacted to Lyrica very much the same...the very beginning of Lyrica was not fun but later ...felt more energized!

have any of you ladies experienced weight gain from Lyrica? If so how much? Yes, but I doubt I can help you figure out how much since I had previously been underweight....I probably gained about 30 pounds and am at normal weight now but I am also eating since I feel so much better. I would say that I gained back 10 pounds more than I had lost being sick if that helps at all I don't know.

Can you have a drink in the pm if you take Lyrica in the am? my best suggestion is to discuss that with your doctor first. I would think you could try it but a doctor should be aware.
