I just made this sauce it is great!

I boiled 2 red bell peppers, then peeled the skin.. I then pureed them and added some pesto sauce, fresh oregano to it and some garlic salt. Then I put it in a pot and heated it to get it a little thicker.

It was yummy!! I then made my me a pizza using this sauce!!

I think you should change your screen name to "the red pepper lady". :) You keep coming up with such great ways of using them. This one sounds really good. That is except for the garlic salt.

Lol Sharon, Well I MISS tomatoes SO much.. I use to use them in everything! I had to find something to TRY to compare to them and help my craving for them.. The red bell peppers when cooked are really more milder and sweeter and have a great taste to them..

And BTW a half of a red bell pepper has MORE V-C in it that a glass of Orange juice!!

Another great way to use red bells is to roast them instead of boiling them. Put peppers under the broiler, couple of inches under the flame. Keep turning them as they blister and blacken. It only takes a few minutes. (You can actually do it on the top of the stove over a gas flame, but it takes some fussing.) When they are mostly roasted or blackened put them in a plastic bag with a little spritz of water and let them steam in the bag for ten minutes. The blackened peel will easily separate from the flesh. Remove the seeds, process with olive oil, fresh garlic and salt or however you want for a pizza sauce. Or just serve room temp drizzled with olive oil and salt.

... red bell peppers ...

Hello! This sounds so yummy! I really miss having a red sauce! Are bell peppers the same as capsicums? I haven't seen/heard of 'bell peppers' here in Australia. I did a Google and found they were 'from' the capsicum family - I'm wondering if I could get away with those then? Thanks for posting this! :) I hope I can make it!

Rainwilds, I think the Capsicum is more from the family of hot peppers So I would probably stay away from that.. Red Bell Peppers are very mild and sweet..

Hello again! I think I found some bell peppers here in Australia! Just going to give them a shot and see how I go. How do you make your pesto sause? I'd love to know the recipe, if you don't mind sharing! Thank you so much in advance! Ally.

Salt to taste

Our stores sell this near spaghetti sauces..

My Safeway grocery store carries a brand of pesto called "Armanino's". It's in the freezer case near the organic frozen meals.

I thought it might have parmesan cheese in it - has anybody had trouble flaring from the parmesan? I think it might be one of my triggers. Maybe I can use a different cheese ...

You could just leave the Parmesan cheese out, to be honest I do not care for it in the pizza sauce. Now when I use this sauce for pasta I do.. But not in the pizza sauce.. But you could try Romano Cheese.. But would just try a little bit in case that is a trigger also..

I also tried this sauce. The only thing I did differently was to roast the bell peppers per another's suggestion. It was WONDERFFUL! I put it on my pizza and I thought I was actually having tomato sauce!! Only, it was better for me b/c it had less of a tart/sour taste to it- more mild.

Thanks so much for this recipe. I will be using it again!!:woohoo:

I also tried it on Pasta. But I added some cooked hamburger meat to the sauce kind made it like a spaghetti and meat sauce.. It was really Tasty!!! Another way is to Add some cooked shrimp to it!!

Funny thing my kids Do not like Red bell peepers just raw. They love this sauce!!

That does sound good. I wonder if there is a brand that makes low acid pasta sauce. When I make pasta, I just use clam juice. Tomatoes are a killer for me. Worse than anything else. Dad made pasta the other day, and for he and mom he put marinara sauce, while he just put butter on mine.

I like red bell peppers and put them in salads or I stir fry them with olive oil. Being half Korean, a lot of the dishes have veggies. Just no more kimchi (hot spicy cabbage/raddish) for me :( :(
