I have been on Elavil for a little over two weeks, and I do think it is helping me, but I have an insane dry mouth, it feels like a desert in there! And I'm getting raw spots and sore throat, it didn't seem to get really bad until the doc up'ed my dosage a little. I don't see this doc anymore, (he called me a failure because I've tried tons of things for my IC and they haven't worked, so I refuse to go to him) So, should I stop taking it, does dry mouth go away after some time? Help please!

Dear Erin -

There are two medicine you can get for dry mouth. One is Salagen and one is Evoxac. They require a Rx. I take Evoxac, 30 mgs, 3 times per day for a non-related IC medication dry mouth. It has no side effects for me.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Nancy - where do you get these? Are they prescription or over the counter?
Thank you!

Dear Erin -

I forgot to add that both Salagen and Evoxac require a Rx. I edited my prior post. Sorry.

I've been getting dry mouth too. I'm trying the Biotene toothpaste & mouthwash and its been helping some (you should be able to get it in any drugstore and I think they sell it in the ICNshop too), but I think I might still ask for some of the prescription medication.
