Transfundal venography with laproscopic obliteration of congested veins for IC?
I spoke to my surgical co-ordinator today, I am new here and you all have helped so much~! But she did not say anything about a hydrodistention or anything like what you all say.
Tomorrow I go in for pre-op eval. My surgery is the day after.
I cannot turn back, I worked many non stop hours fighting to keep my job since I am out of FMLA hours, yes you can run out, until the next time the next year when you regain it back but I wont wait a year for this I have to move on in my life.
I got the call today that they will hold my job for my surgery recovery, I am blessed for that.
I am just letting you all know in kindness me NOT having surgery is NOT an option at this point due to ALL the hurdles and stuff I have dealt with to keep my job.
With that being said please forgive me I am frustrated, scared, in pain and as in my other posts yes I am on Elmiron, I go in each week and have a bladder treatment put in, I have gone to PT every week I am miserable I cannot handle the pain and the procedure I mentioned he booked me for as a back up 5 months ago in case none of the other things worked.
Well none of the other things worked, so am I having the same surgery? I guess I will find out tomorrow....I am just so freaked out I was really hoping it was the same procedure you all had then I would know it makes sense.
Please help me..

Shannon...After doing a google search on the words "Transfundal venography with laproscopic obliteration of congested veins for IC", I must say that I do not remember ever reading about this procedure on these boards. I hope your pre op goes well and that you are informed as to what this will do for you and what to expect during and after the procedure. Please come back on and let us know what you found out and how you do after the procedure. I hope it helps and that you are able to recover quickly and with good results. (((Hugs)))
This part:
laproscopic obliteration of congested veins for IC
certainly makes it sound like they'll be going in laproscopically and "obliterating" congested veins?
Just found this while searching the first part of what your surgery person said would be happening:

I think if you click on the link it will take you there... Sounds like the venogram part is maybe when they inject contrast dye into the veins in the pelvic area - or particular veins there? Sounds like they are looking for congestion of the veins that might be causing pelvic related problems?
Sounds like maybe your doctor thinks you have pelvic congestion? Maybe this is to look for congestion - congested veins - and then he will be doing something to take care of that problem????
Hopefully someone with some medical background will jump in here - b/c I do not have a medical background! LOL

Kim...That's the information I found, also.
Here's something from a Q&A here at the ICN:
Venous pelvic congestion syndrome is a well-known problem for some patients that cause pelvic pain due to distention and varicosities of the major pelvic veins. It may clinically mimic the symptoms of IC, but to our knowledge does not contribute to or cause IC.

Sounds like it is a separate issue from IC - but certainly one that can cause pelvic pain!
