Hi All,
I am relatively new here, and trying to get grounded to living with IC. Although I think that is most likely what I have, I am concerned that my doctors didn't spend time excluding other possible causes.
After a clean pelvic exam and a clean in-office cysto, my urologist diagnosed me with IC. My symptom so far is a feeling of pressure in my bladder that ranges from a nuisance to debilitating. I've been on the strict IC diet for a month now. I am still looking for food links to my flares. I had my first Elmiron/Lidocaine/Sodium Bicarbonate instillation yesterday. I felt great while my bladder was numbed, but today my symptoms are back.
Tomorrow I see my general practitioner. I am going to ask her for a referral to a nutritionist for the IC diet, and one to a gynecologist for a pelvic ultrasound. I want to rule out the possibility that something else is actually putting pressure on my bladder.
To be thorough with my health, what should I be asking my GP about? What other things could be causing pressure on my bladder? Are there any other causes that should be ruled out before an IC diagnosis?
Cheers,
Stephanie
