Can anyone tell me if they have had this happen??? I am about 5 weeks post op second surgery and have been doing extremely well. Bladder spasms and pain well managed. But last week I stated having "terrible incision pain" and it has slowly increased so bad over the last week that I can barely even move without being in extreme pain. I called the doc today and they had me come directly in. I show no real signs of infection but, at the base of the implant its puffy and is slightly red and needless to say is extremely painful to touch. They said it is caused by "fluid" building up in the base of the pocket.I have been placed on antibiotics 3x a day and have to go back on Thur. for a follow up. If it doesnt clear up they will have to take it out. Needless to say I'm an emotional wreck,as this has been the only true since of relief I've been able to find. Has anyone heard of this before?? Please advise. Thanks for any information you may have.:help:

Post op infection is the biggest concern in the OR. If they do need to remove it, they will probably be able to replace it after your infection clears up. Don't be an emotional wreck!! It will be okay, just requiring a little extra tweaking!

I had horrible problems with Interstim #1. Infections, hematomas and permanent nerve damage...not to scare anyone BUT I was never told all this could happen. I was told in and out and on my way....not that way at all!
Any way if it is infected they will need to remove it and let it heal.
Every dr is different in what they will proceed with.
I wish you the best and hope things get better for you soon!
Take care I do understand how hard this is!!

The best thing you can do is call your doc and get in to see him quickly. All docs are different. Who knows what he will do? Good luck it will be ok but call in case it is an infection.

Thanks to those who have given me support . My doc changed antibiotics and I have been going back every few days to be re-checked. I have decided that what ever he choses to do it will be for the best as I have just been so sick with the infection. I have to go back on Tue and then a final decision on removal will be make. Its just so hard , as the interstim has worked so well with the IC symptoms. But as many of you and the doc has said "we can try again once the infection" in my body has been cleared up. Thanks again.
