Hello friends. I have a strange problem. Maybe some here can enlighten me. On Feb. 4th I had a Hydrodistention and it worked wonders. My bladder is pain free. I was fine just two days after. I had asked the Doctor not to use any chemicals, just water. He agreed. Well 4 days after I came down with a cold that is raging through New England. It turned into pneumonia. My PCP put me on Amoxicillin. After seven days I came down with what I thought was a yeast infection and he called in a prescription for "one" pill that is suppose to take it away. I do not have pain but my vulvar area feels like it has an itching rash. That one pills did nothing to help me. The area feels very dry and sensitive. Any ideas as to what it might be or what might help me? I wash with only Ivory soap and rinse well with plain water. I never experienced something like this before except a yeast infection but I,m almost sure that is not the problem. Hugs to all, Ziggy

Was the one yeast pill oral? I have found that vag. suppository, OTC one-dose yeast treatment that is one dose, burns, burns, burns!!!!!!
But I'm fine with the oral diflucan.
The other possibility, and more likely: it's the yeast, and that itch is MADDENING...you can go to the drugstore and get vulvar cream. Tht pharmacist can help you if you're not sure which product to buy. I usually buy the yeast treatment kits that already contain that. Its a small tube and really can help keep your sanity. I get that itch and discomfort everytime with a yeast infection....ugh. You can also try a small squirt bottle with cool water and pat dry.
I hope you find relief soon! and let us know how you make out:hi:
I'm off to go shovel my butt out of a foot of snow!!!

Hey there...i had my hydro/cysto on Friday and came home with antibiotics, i think it is Doxycyclene (sp?) and now i have a yeast infection too. I have some OTC Vagicaine cream, but am getting ready to call for a Diflucan. Sometimes, i need to take two instead of one. Maybe talk to your doc and see if they might call you in one more, and maybe use the cream along with it. You guys are right....that is maddening! You are not alone!!! :loco:

I think it would be a good idea to see your doctor for a culture if the itching doesn't stop soon. You mentioned ivory soap --- which a dermatologist told me is not gentle at all. You might want to try something like Cetaphyl to see if the itching improves. Some ICers also use Dove, which is much gentler.

I agree with Donna. If I were you I'd switch to Cetaphyl soap. Also, go to drugs.com and put the name of the yeast medication he gave you into the interactions checker along with your other drugs. Unfortunately, we cannot be reliant on our doctors or pharmacists to be completely in the know of what drugs we take, particularly OTC ones or supplements. If it was Diflucan or a generic of it, it does interact with several common drugs and its bioavailability can be dramatically decreased by simple OTC medications that can also cause liver damage (like it did in my case with Prilosec OTC aka omeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor).
You should get a culture done if it doesn't stop. There's no harm in being aggressive when you are in pain!
Ask your doctor if Clobetasol Propionate Cream, 0.05% may be an option for you he could call in. It is not a treatment for yeast, but rather something to take away your pain and stop your itchy feeling. I always have some on hand. Be warned it does have a citric acid in it, but I find that the benefit of this corticosteroid with my vaginal pain during a yeast infection far outweighs any tiny pain I'm in initially putting it on. I am not by any means saying you should use this cream, as I am not a doctor nor the patient, but it may be something you might want to talk to your doctor about as a possible option.
Good luck and let us know how things work out. :)
I'd stay away from Ivory, too - it can be very irritating and drying. Good luck - I hope you get relief soon. :(

Douching with a dilute solution of warm water and vinegar always clears up yeast infections for me, but my IC is gentle (for now)... Apparently yeast can't thrive in an acid environment. Hope you feel better soon, keep us posted... laura

Thank you for your advice. I think I will go see my OBGYN ASAP. I learn something every day. I wear contacts often and was told to only wash my hands with Ivory because it leaves no residue so it was the safest soap to use for my eyes. Since it is safe for my eyes I thought it was best for other sensitive places. I will buy Cetaphyl today. Yvette what is up with all the darn snow we have had this Winter. It has been the worse Winter we have had since returning to Maine in 1989. I'm getting too old for these hard Winters. If I could sell my house, I'd head South for sure. Hugs, Ziggy

Ziggy, don't ever feel dumb. I use Ivory too....only because it's so plain...no fragrance or extra lotions and no colorings. I usually use feminine wash or Ivory.
:lmao: This snow is just annoying isn't it? On Sunday, bunch of us were driving back to mass after being in Woodstock, Lincoln (Loon Mtn) for the weekend. It really picked up as we hit the Mass border. I don't mind the snow so much....it's the maintenance: shoveling, salting, de-icing, picking, stomping, scraping, brushing all that white stuff off my property and car. :::::sigh::::::
And yet, I don't think I could really live anywhere else. I really think I could only live in Mass, NH or Maine. ;)
