I am currently taking Sanctura XR and today is day five of taking it. I haven't noticed any major difference in my urinary frequency yet. My doc said it could take at least a week to work. Does anyone have any experience with this? Anyone whose had success with Sanctura- how long did it take before you noticed a difference? Thanks so much.

Okay, I thought I would just eventually reply to my own post in case anyone has this same question! I took Sanctura for seven days and then stopped it because I thought it wasn't working. I still felt frequency and the gotta go feeling a lot of the time. Well, I was off of it for a week and I got so much WORSE. I definitely hit rock bottom during that time. I started up again, and I have now been taking it for a full seven days again and I am doing a lot better. I used to have to go to the bathroom at least twice an hour, now I have some periods where I can go 3-4 hours without going! It has given me some quality of life back. I don't know if this is completely the answer, and I am planning to try several other avenues as well as see another uro this week, but I do think Sanctura has worked for me- and hopefully it will work even better the more time it is in my body.

I took it for a while and it helped, but not as much as I would have liked.

It is amazing when you don't think something is working and, when you stop it, you realize that it does help. I always think of this when I read posts from people who have discovered this. "You don't know how good you've got until its gone". It seem to me that it is a line in a song.

I am really glad that you seem to be doing better. I hope it continues until you feel good most of the time if not all of the time. :):):)

I know! This whole "trial and error" process is so crazy- and I am still in the very beginnings of it. I so look forward to the day when I figure out what combination of meds works best for me! Others on this forum give me so much hope. Donna, I agree with you. Sanctura hasn't been a cure all and I don't think it is something I will stick with forever, but for now it is making it possible for me to go to my son's baseball games, take my daughters to the park, etc. I am so glad to have some quality of life back! I'll keep this thread posted in the future to hopefully help others like me.

Just thought I would update again for anyone looking at information on Sanctura. I have now been taking it for about a month and I am doing much better. I plan to stay on the Sanctura for awhile. I have also recently added Elavil 10 mg at night. I don't know exactly what is working, but this combo of meds seems to really help with my frequency. Of course, I also definitely follow the IC diet!
