hi i am a 21/f from chicago, il. and i been having UTI's since i was 17 years old that come and go. by the time i was 19 i would have 4 or more UTIS a year. and not until recently in december of 2003 it got the point where i felt so bad i could not do anything my family doctor would not listen to me and everytime i would tell her why does my pelvic area hurt and shell say o thats nothing thats just ur bladder thats another problem and thats all shell say to me. finally in january of this year i just decided to go to the county hospital because i was peeing every 5 minutes n it was killin me on this inside they gave me antibiotics which it helped alittle, by the next day i was in the bathroom every 10 minutes. i felt like i was going insane on the inside i did not know what to think or do. i cried n prayed to god to pleaseeeeee let the pain go away! so i went again! under E.R they send me to the gyne because they thought it was a gyne problem, and FINALLY! someone told me something he said i had nothing wrong gynelogically (i dont know if i spelled it right) and i didnt show no UTI but i had blood in the urine and that i really needed to see a urologist. so luckily my neighboor shes a doctor and i asked her what she thinks about my case and thats when she pointed that she thinks thats what it might be IC ..and I NEVER IN MY LIFE HEARD ABOUT IC. so i went to my regular clinic where i had been going for a long time and got my records n showed them to my neighboor and even more she started believing i have IC. resulted that my regular doctor never even bother to tell me i had blood in my urine and would always prescribe antibiotics. so right now im still waiting for my appointments at the county hospital. and theres days where i feel good n days where like today since last week where i feel the constant urge of peeing and pressure and spasms on my bladder. so is been 3 months of putting up with this bladder problems. and what makes me mad that some people dont understand me, and i guess this is my last resort to go online and just at least relive myself a little..and thanks to anyone whos reading this, i hope all of u peoples treatment5s are going good...for now i bought prelief ...so ill see whats up with that prelief...

:welcome: :welcome: I am thrilled you found us...Welcome to the family. I am very sorry you are suffering so much. It was a struggle for me to get diagnosed too....really gets on nerves thinking back to the ammount of times it could have been caught earlier if docs were looking for it. Sorry you are going through that struggle. I hope you find a doctor that really helps you with this.
We are here for you for whatever you need ....:grouphug:
Best Wishes

I too am sorry you might have IC. I do have a couple of suggestions --- first, I suggest you go to http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ and read the information there. You'll find diet information in the handbook and I think it would be a good idea to give that a try, especially eliminating such things as sodas, fruit juices (especially cranberry), and coffee from your diet. And second, keep a voiding diary for a week or so before your appointment so you will have it to share with the urologist.
Sending warm welcoming hugs,
Donna
