Do you guys know if insurance will cover the cost of the drugs for DMSO cocktail instillations? The only pharmacy that sells the vials says my insurance wont cover it but I think it might. How do I go about having my insurance cover it?

Contact the insurance company directly & ask. If it's not on the list of approved medications, ask for the forms to appeal it. Take the forms to your doctor & have him/her write a letter of medical necessity & submit that with the forms. Then cross your fingers. Be prepared, it may take more than one appeal...

That said, I did not have trouble getting my insurance to cover the DMSO medications or the office visit fees for having the instillations in the office. It was pretty easy. On the other hand, the rescue instillations at home have been more difficult to get covered. I'm still fighting that battle...

When I had my DMSO treatments, the doctor's office obtained the DMSO and I had the treatments in the office --- my insurance covered it that way, but would not have if I had purchased the DMSO myself.

Thank you for the info girls. I'll see if they can buy it for me. Now they are making me buy it so I am not sure the insurance will cover it.
