I had my first nerve block a couple of weeks ago. Yowza, that's a big needle. I don't know what kind I had, but it was hard for the doctor to access the spot--it was an internal/external thing going on. I thought the doc was going in up to her elbow.

I am scheduled for a series of these shots, including one tomorrow. I also had dry needling done.

I haven't noticed any outstanding change in my circumstances since these procedures. Maybe a little less burning, but it took days for that to happen. It got worse before it calmed down.

How many injections does it normally take to feel the benefits of this therapy? How successful is it, generally speaking?

I'm not sure of success rates but I am getting them done weekly. I m getting the pudental nerve shots but it sounds the same as you described. I also feel worse the day of and after, then it seems to get better for a few days.

I was told by the first doctor I went to that a block would not help because the pain is not muscular, but visceral. Because of her response, I have never tried nerve blocks. Has it helped anyone with very bad bladder pain?
