I need some advice...This is the most pain I have been in since I had my tests done in Feb. I am having spasms and am so bloated.
The only thing that I have changed is I have a sinus infection and the dr. put me on Cipro, an antibiotic. I have also taken ibuprofen and tylenol sinus.
Have any of you had any bad side affects from these that cause a flare-up? Oh, I don't know what to do. If I stop these meds I am so stuffed up and the infection won't go away.
Thanks for the help.

 I have alot of sinus pain and headaches with my IC. I think that is just one of the "things" that go along with this condition. Yes I stay bloated all the time too. I can not wear anything tight around my tummy.
Ibupofen tends to make IC worse. (for some people) try heat it will help with the spasms.

Also, Tylenol Sinus has a decongestant in it, and I've seen a lot of people post here that say that decongestants (for example, pseudoephedrine HCl is a common decongestant) make their bladders worse...
I haven't taken any decongestants in a LONG time because my allergy doc has me on several meds that keep me pretty clear... so I haven't had the opportunity to test this one out. But, maybe you could try to go a day or two without and see if your bladder improves?
Just a thought... :)

sending you hugs and prayers I do truely hope that your flare and ic belly goes away soon.
I wish I had some answer for you. maybe you need to give your doctor a call that treat your ic and see if he can give you something diff. something safe for your ic. I'm not sure:confused: just a thought. :grouphug:

I agree that your problem might be either the ibuprofen or the tylenol sinus, or both. My suggestion would have to be to telephone your doctor and ask about other decongestants. And if he gives you a prescription, just pick up a few until you know if you will tolerate them. Any time I get a new prescription, I ask the pharmacist to fill only a portion of the prescription so I don't end up spending extra money.
Warm healing thoughts,

Tairla,
I recently took Endal (a decongestant) for a nasty sinus infection. I had taken it for several days and kept having more urinary retention, kept "straining" to pee, burning, more back pain, etc. I do self catherization at bedtime and as needed so I started catherization and found that my residual outputs were high. After I quit taking the Endal the outputs went down, the back pain got better as well as the IC pain so I have added the Endal to my list of "not to take meds." Hope this helps. Susan

i agree with everyone about the meds but also think that any time our bodies are at a sick weakened state that it can affect our IC. I often flare just because my innume system is fighting something and my body is sick....kinda like being tired all day (I am always worse at night when tired....so sick basically is like that)
I don't know what the reason is for you. So sorry you are having such a ruff time. I think alternating cold and hot helps a lot for pain and brings down inflamation...and can help the bloating too.
Best Wishes,
ICchell

I quit taking the decongestant and only take the ibuprofen at night to help me sleep. My joints have been so sore.
I do feel better in the pain aspect of my bladder and the spasms have gone. I still am going more frequently and bloated...but I feel better.
My sinuses are breaking up and I am so tired. I had to work this weekend and am worn out. Glad I only work 2 days this next week and my little one will be in daycare the rest of the time.
Thank you all very much for the advice and support. I have had a couple real bad weeks with my attitude and such. Now my husband may have Diabetes? (spelling) so we have more to deal with. It could get him booted from the Military so he would loose his full-time job. Just what we need...more stress about money...Oh well...I will just pray harder.
Thank you again so much.. :D
