I have never done well with birth control pills, but my doctor wanted to be certain that I didn't also have endometriosis. So he suggested I do the depo shot. He said that if I did, the pain would get better. Well...It has gotten WAY worse I have already taken over 110 pain pills since the 5th. It just won't stop or even let up and give me a break. I've tried sitting in the bathtub with baking soda and it doesn't help like it usually does. I've kept a heating pad on NON STOP and I have been strictly following my ic diet. Does anyone know anything else I can do to get through? I'm really desperate and could really use any help you could give. Thanks, Sami

Have you contacted your doctor regarding the increase of pain?

Sorry, you are having such a hard time. Like Sharon said, have you contacted your doctor. I know we are all so different, I don't have endo at all, but the time during my ovulation made my pain so much higher, so my doctor put me on the depo shot to see if that would help. For me that was the answer to prayer.
Sounds like you are doing the right things with the hot baths and heating pad. Are you making sure to eat alot of protein? Scrambled eggs or peanut butter seem to be my main source, but that again isn't always a good food for all of us ICers.
I hope you find out your answers!
Hugs, Tracey

I have talked to my urologist and he said that the Depo shot shouldn't have made my pain worse, if anything it should make it better. So now I have an appointment with my gyn next Tue. I just got out of the hospital because I was at a doctors appt. and he did a vaginal exam that was so excruciating it scared him and he wanted me to be observed for a couple days. I've never been treated so badly at a hospital before and I really hope this pain goes away soon. Thank ya'll for your input. I'll try to eat more high protein foods, peanut butter is a BIG no-no for me though. I'm still open to any suggestions.

Aww Sami, that sounds miserable. I'm so sorry to hear your flare isn't getting better. You have a uro, you like, right? You deserve some relief--and soon. Take care, G
