My husband and I had our first daughter with no issues after only a month of trying, but we've been trying for over a year for baby number two. My doctor said that some of the issue could be my weight loss. I lost 30 pounds or more before I was diagnosed. I'm on clomid and I'm finding now that it is effecting my flares. Many of my flares are hormone induced. Has anyone else had this problem? What have you done to help prevent them?
Has anyone gone through IUI's?

There are a few on here who have had fertility treatments and I think for some, clomid was a big problem for flares.
Maybe they will pop on here and be of more help. I wish you luck in trying for number two.:)

Hello ladies! :hi:

I am so glad that i found this forum. My hubby and i have been married for 8 years and i have been off BCP for 7. I have had the HSG before and a laparoscopy this past december to check for endo (none found), and i am seeing a fertility specialist now. The next step in our process is the IUI with Clomid. I was on Clomid by itself a few years ago with no other fertility assistance and i experience high levels of ovulation, but no luck getting pregnant.

However, I have had such a time with Urological issues that i am now under a local IC specialist's care and am scheduled for a cysto/hydro/biopsy two weeks from today to officially dx my IC. I am hoping to be able to get myself straightened out for at least a little while so that we can pick back up on our fertility trek.

I haven't done the IUI yet, but i am glad that you mentioned Clomid and flare. Hopefully we'll have some more gals chime in. If you don't mind me asking - are you on any IC meds while going through these procedures?

i flared badly with clomid, so my gyn (he was married to my uro, lol) put me on urelle a few days before i would start clomid, and i would take it until i finished clomid. it helped a bit. not a lot, but some. it was just an anti-spasmodic, but it did soothe a bit. without it, i was a mess.

at the time, my uro wanted me off all IC meds if i was going to ttc. i'd been ttc for about 8 years when i was dgsd with IC. so i did the bladder instills one summer and had a little relief and went back to trying for a child again.

anyway, i guess what i'm saying is that when i was ttc, i couldn't take the IC meds. it might be different now. more research has been done. more dr's are allowing more things. so always talk to your dr before starting or stopping meds.

clomid did cause flares though. i later moved on to femara (had some really bad vision issues the last time i did clomid), and didn't have flares with that. but it messed with my estrogen levels, and the follicles wouldn't release the eggs even with the HCG trigger shot.

wishing y'all the best of luck. i know it's hard to try to have a positive outlook sometimes.

Hi everyone,

I have PCOS (for me, my hormone levels were out of whack) and my doctor put me on Metformin in June 2008 to help me ovulate and to hopefully get pregnant.

We were sick of waiting so we decided to move to Clomid in December 2008 --- but of course my insurance slowed things down and I wasn't approved to start until February 2009.

Long story short - I had already picked up the Clomid from the pharmacy and was ready to go when I found out that I was pregant!!!!!
:woohoo:

So, it took me 9 months - but I know it was the Metformin that did it for me.
Never in my life had I had regular periods or even ovulated on my own until I started Metformin.

I did a lot of research on this over the months and it said that most people get pregnant on Metformin within the first 3-5 months. If you haven't talked about this option with your doctor yet - it might be work a try! It worked for me!

XOXO

We did everything Possible. I was even standimng on my head. Larry Even had to do his thing.

But It was me. I had so many surgeries that I had so many adhesions. We tried for a Year. But the Dr. finally said that adopt or invtro.

We weighed our Options. so my calling was working with the Little ones at church. I did so much with the Church Little ones and the Youth. Now I just can't do that anymore.

I will be 50 this year and Facing a transplant. I never thought I would have to say that.
