Hi everyone,
It's been a long time since I have been in the chat sessions. I have been doing great the last year with my meds and my IC and IBS and Fibro. I just found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant(we had been trying). I am very happy but, I can't seem to get the fear out of my mind that my IC will flare up since I am not on any meds. I already am experiencing pain, bloating and other more mild symptoms. Is that normal? The pain is by no means debilitating-but it's enough to make me worry constantly. Every pain I feel I have this fear miscarriage. (Miscarriage has been on my mind because so many people tell me-anything can happen, you are still in the early stages of pregnancy) I just want to know that I don't have to worry about every ache and pain since it fells like an IC flare up(plus I have been eating a lot of fruit-I am so worried about nutrition)
Thanks!

First....Congrats on your pregnancy!! As long as you're making your regular visits to the ob, they will tell you all you need to know about nutrition. Also I'm sure you're already on prenatal vitamins..Most ob doctors have a 24 hour service. If you feel a pain or anything that you "feel" (intuition) isn't right, call them!! That's what they're there for...
I had a pretty good remission while pregnant. Only twice I had to take antibiotics for a uti.
When the baby was born, I had a great remission for 4 months..
So I pray that you can enjoy this pregnancy.
It's amazing what you'll experience in the next 9 months. It's hard to do, but try not to stress too much...So til I hear from you again, put those feet up and get some much needed rest.......
Hugs to you and the little-one-to-be!

I want to start off by saying CONGRATS !:) Im almost 30wks preg and have had no trouble hardly with my IC. When ever I get a little flare I just drink lots of water. As for nutrition...tell your OB your condition and maybe they can put you on another vitamin or your pre-natal vitamins takes care of alot of that in case we dont eat healthy all the time. Have faith and pray and your pregnancy will go great ! I had the same fears but always got through it with love and support from family and friends. You have us here so anytime u need to talk feel free. Dont stress too much cause ur baby nor you need that. Good luck and take care and everything will be fine !

I know when I got pregnant with my little girl. She is 15 months old now....my IC got a lot better and I wasn't on anything. I have heard that most often it does go into a remission type thing while you are pregnant. It was a great time for me. I did not eat alot of fruit. ... just some milder things like pears and the odd apple and I had a healthy happy bouncing baby girl. (I think I also ate a bit of canned fruit without a problem).

My IC never interferred with my pregnancy at all. (except I peed alot!!!)

Good luck!

Congratulations!!

I'll admit that when I first found out I was pregnant I was in constant fear of something being wrong. Every ache and pain made me nervous and I couldn't wait to reach the 10-12 week mark when they say you can relax a little. And you know what? I hit the 10-12 week mark and I STILL worried.

As a first time mom everything that was going on in my body was foreign and scary and I had absolutely no control over any of it. I even went as far as to rent a baby heartbeat doppler machine to hear her little thump-thump whenever I wanted instead of waiting for appointments. That helped tremendously with my anxiety.

So.....your worry is completely normal and like everyone else mentioned above, your doctors are there to answer questions and take care of you. They are USED to new mommy fears so jump on in there and ask for what you need.

Oh.....and um.....my daughter is now 2 1/2 years old and I.....well....still worry like crazy!! :lmao:

Congratulations!! I'm so excited for you. I have already started planning the timing for me to taper off meds and get ready to start trying. Even though I still have a year before I'll be ready to do this I'm like you I want to make sure that I do everything I need to for a successful and healthy pregnancy. In my discussion about when to go off of my meds my dr. explained which drugs would be o.k. to take until I found out I was pregnant and which drugs I would need to taper off of. She also said that you can take Hydrocodone for pain during pregnancy because it bypasses the placenta. I have since found this informatiion in an IC book as well as a book about pregnancy. I will do everything I can to avoid any medication during pregnancy but at least I know that it is there if I get really bad pain. I thought you might want to know about this in case you have pain and want to talk to your dr. Hopefully you will be like so many women and go into remission for the pregnancy. I wish you the best and will pray that you have a healthy pain free pregnancy. Enjoy this exciting time and try to take it easy.

I think it's wonderful that you're pregnant.

The feelings you are having aren't unusual during those first weeks of pregnancy. I think most of us spent a little worry time then. The good news is that the vast majority of pregnancies have good outcomes.

I'm very happy for you --- and I know you're excited too.

Sending an encouraging hug,
Donna

Hi every body,

I'm new to this board. I am 5 weeks pregnant and scared TO DEATH! Reason being, last October, I found out I was pregnant, but it turned out to be a blighted ovum and I had to have a D and C. then in February, I was pregnant again. Again another blighted ovum and another D and C. Now I am pregnant again. 5 weeks. I am scared out of my mind. I see my dr. this week, but I'm so fearful. I want this baby so bad and can not handle a 3rd loss.

Hi there.

i to have just discovered that i am pregnant. 6 weeks.
I to have the fear of miscarrage as have pain in my abdomen. (have done well before the pregnancy).
If you are really worried, mention it to your midwife when you see her and they will book you in for an early scan.
I had my bladder removed in sept last year so still experiencing pain from that.
It's great news especially as you have been trying.
Try not to worry and try to enjoy. They say if miscarrage happens then you will feel a whole lot worse if thats any consolation..........
We have already told everyone about our news and even picked out the names we are that excited.
If the pain starts to get a little worse, go and put your feet up and relax. i am. dont forget you and the baby comes first. not work, not housework nothing. Let people do things for you for a change. he he he

Keep me informed. You are welcome to e-mail me throughout the pregnancy if you like and we can share experiences along the way. i would like that.

chin up.

Vicky,

I've just had my bladder removed in 2002 and just had it reconstructed. It gives me hope that maybe one day I will still be able to have children. It would be a miracle because my Husband and I are infertile but you never know, miracles happen everyday!

Take care to both of you during your pregnancies! My heart goes out to both of you!

You've given my Husband and I some HOPE that maybe someday we can still try.

Love and HUGS,

Kara

Hi!:smile tee
I'm six weeks pregnant as well, and I know exactly what you mean about the worrying. Any pain at all and I totally panic and worry that I'm having a miscarriage. I even find myself having really weird and trippy dreams about things going wrong - the other night I dreamed that I had given birth to a frog instead of a baby! I also dreamt that went on holiday and left the baby on the plane! I guess it is the hormones going haywire once again.
To those struggling to have a baby - there is still hope. I was told it was likely to be very difficult to get pregnant due to my various medical problems, but it happened very quickly. I've been told I may have to have a caesarian because of my neurological problems, which is a bit scary!
Anyway, congratulations to all fellow pregnant IC'ers, and here's hoping for remission for all of us!!
Hugs,

Once you get past that first trimester, your fears will slowly give way to excitement. I started spotting in my 6th week and was sure I was losing the baby, but I didn't! I even fell down a flight of stairs when I was 15 weeks pregnant and bruised my cervix to the point of bleeding--but baby was fine!!! (I had undiagnosed gestational diabetes, dizzy spells...)

I remember I was afraid that my positive was false...it was just so hard to believe!

Congrats to you. I’m 15 weeks pregnant. Your one main concern should be is bladder infections. Keep an eye on that. Having IC you are prone to more bladder infections. Go to a High risk Doctor. Tell them all the meds that you’re taking. If you like to keep in contact email me. I live in North East PA. Congrats to you again
