This is so random but I started chewing a piece of Orbitz gum, one of those weird fruity flavors, and in about 10 minutes, this horrible burning sensation started in my vagina. Just like that feeling you get if you have a CT scan with iodine. Then I started sweating bullets and got extremely clammy and had to start throwing my clothes off. Has anyone had a problem with this? I mean its just a flavor of gum! What else is IC gonna take away from me?

I never had a problem with gum. That's interesting. :hmm::hmm::hmm:

Check the ingredients. Some gums have Aspertame in it. Check for citric acid too.

I've actually been looking for a "safe" gum, they all seem to have artificial sweeteners or aspertame. What brands are other people okay with? (I have no clue if they flare me, I've been avoiding them since diagnosis but really miss gum and would love to try one.)

As for "natural" alternatives...Trader Joe's carries Glee Gum. Okay flavor but it's really sticky, not great for anyone with dental work.

I chew Orbitz gum with no problems associated with it. I've done the Bubble Gum flavor and now I'm into the Citrus, which I thought might have caused some issues, but it didn't.
