I'm fairly new here, was just dx with ic about 3 weeks ago. I was seeing a urologist and after testing for everything else, he did a cysto and dx me with ic. I had never even heard of it before. That's when I found this web site!:) It was nice to find people who actually understood what I was going through.

I had endometriosis from the time I was 14 till they did a complete hysterectomy on me at the age of 27, after having 17 surgeries and my appendix removed. I am now 34 and feel like I will never feel normal again. I am in constant pain and feel like nothing helps.:headbang:

I have an appointment with an urologist that specializes in IC tomorrow. My husband thinks I'm expecting to much....but I do expect to have some relief.

My life has been turned upside down with all of this! I am 34, very newly married (hasn't helped my sex life!), have a 13 year old daughter and a 16 year old step daughter (who is like my own!). They have all been very understanding....but I'm not! I'm an accountant and work full time, but lately I have only been able to work around 2 to 3 days a week. Luckily my work is very understanding.....but what happens when that understanding wears out?

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to everybody on this board! So many of my questions have been answered just by reading your post and your encouraging words are worth millions!

Wishing you all pain free days......

I'm so sorry you have IC, but at least now you know and you can begin to deal with it. I suggest you read the information in the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ You'll find information there about the IC diet, and I do think it's important that you put yourself on it right away.

I have had diagnosed IC for 29 years now and would like to assure you that there is life with IC. It may take a while to find exactly which treatment options work best for you and which foods and drinks you need to avoid, but most of us do --- and most of us feel good most of the time.

Sending warm welcoming hugs,
Donna

:welcome: and Hi Danielle! I am 27 and just had a hysterectomy for endo...I definatly know the feeling of wondering when the relief will come....and thinking...it should be here by now. :grouphug: :grouphug: If you read my story you will know I have needed some for a long time too. I can't tell you everything will get better but I can say it is a lot easier to deal with when you have the friends of ICN. I spent some time only able to work 2-3 days a week before I eventually quit.....I don't know what the future holds for you....but whatever it may be....we are here for you.

loving and healing thoughts,

:welcome: to the ICN Danielle, I am so sorry you are in so much pain. I hope your new uro is able to help you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You will get a lot of info about ic from this website and support from other members here also. I was dx with Ic in April 2005 but I had it long before that the dr. says since I was 19. This is great bunch of people here they are like my 2nd family.
