First of all I am new to the boards and am glad I found the wonderful support group. My story briefly is this: I started having lower back pain and it really got pretty bad and then symptoms turned into burning when i pee'ed and these sharp brief synges down the front of me...this was this summer. Went to gyno was treated for uti,btw never had one before....assumed it would get better....didn't went to E.R. said it was kidney stones and they would have to pass.....saw a urologist after this and he basically said he didn't think it was stones and wanted to know if i had any previous surgeries....
I did have ablation in dec. of 07 and he wondered if this could be a cause?
Continued to live in pain because my husband has been fed up with everything. He thinks I have made his life/weekends miserable because I was always in pain and he just didn't care/believe me
Fast forward to a few more trips to E.R.,ct scans, mri,dx of bladder infections and many days where i lived in hell bc of pain.

[/LIST]At the end of July had hyster. removed ovaries this was for awful periods i had been having the ablation surg didn't help only made things worse imo.
After that i thought it would be all better but it didn't get better
I went back to work/school teacher in August and continued to hurt and pee and hurt and pee and about to lose it.
Saw a different urologist and he mentioned IC and said for now (September 08) he would treat it as overactive bladder. and when i told him my symptoms-painful sex, burning, hurting in abdomen, swollen in stomach, my thighs/pelvic region feel like they have been working out they are sore to touch, sometimes it sends me to the ground.
Did I mention i have 3 small kids and i feel like i am scaring them because i have hurt so bad and cried in front of them.. they just want their normal mommy back and I can't be that person.
I had a really bad flare up over christmas/moved houses and doing lots of physical work that always flares or sends me to my bed and floor. Saw my fam dr. and he thinks it could be IC and has prescribe me opana er for pain.
****I have a new urology appt. monday and just need some support and advice i hate this and don't want to be this way.
does it sound lilke ic?

Just wanted to say :hi: and welcome to ICN!
No one here can diagnose you but you will find much support and info here...read new and old posts in any of the forums and you will find out a lot about the patients' symptoms and treatment.
Also up top of this page on the far left you will see where it says: What is IC/PBS? Then treatments ..Self Help and so on from left to right...if you click on each one of those you will find much information that may be of help to you, as each one has information specific to the topic you click on...it's a
good way to start taking a look at what IC is about. Good luck and have a good night:)

Welcome to our "little" family. :-)

Hang in there until you see the doctor on Monday. It is the best way to find out what is going on with you. Hopefully you will have an answer to your problems soon.

I am sorry your husband is not very understanding. He is probably just as confused as you are about everything - I know mine was. Once you get a diagnosis, be sure he goes to at least a few of your doctor appointments with you so that he can get a first hand explanation of your situation.

hugs hugs hugs......

Hi and :welcome: , it does sound like IC . Hopefully you can get somewhere w the new uro on monday . I know what you mean when you say your kids want you back and you cant be that person . I have 3 daughters and used to be very active and now I spend most of my time on the couch while my kids ask if my " boo's boo's " hurt . Its a horrible feeling , when you see the worry on your kids faces ! Im sorry your in so much pain , at least your primary was willing to help you w that . I hope that this new guy can help you feel better , if you ever need to talk feel free to private message me anytime :)

I hope you don’t have IC, but if you’re new Doctors thinks you do? Ask about Elmiron for frequency and urgency, and ask them about Urelle for pain. They have both helped me. I’m so sorry to hear your are in that much pain. Hang in there and welcome! Everyone here will help you as much as we can.

My IC started with frequency and then I would have severe low back pain.
Doctors would check my urine and find no infection only hematuria(microscopic blood).
I am now taking Elmiron for the bladder and hydrocodone for back pain.
I have a little boy who has seen me cry a lot too. I just had to explain to him
that Mommy has bladder problems. He went to school one day and told the teacher
that his Mommy had pee-pee problems. Kids are soooooo great!!!!
