Ok - I am desperately trying to deal with dryness and I have been using the estrace cream - which seems to help, but it is messy. I thought about using the Femring or Estring, but my doc is not crazy about that, he thinks the ring would irritate my bladder.
But, I was told the source of estrogen in both Femring and Estring are from soy. Is Estrace cream from soy also?
Will soy estrogen that close to our bladder hurt or irritate us? I don't know what to think.
Anyone know if vagifem is soy based?
I don't want to hurt my bladder while trying to do something good for it.

I am not sure I can be of much help...but I can offer a similar situtaion that I was placed in.
I went to the gyno about a month ago complaining of red and rawness inside my vagina, even like cuts...she advised it was a PH imbalance, and told me to take a 1/4 of a crushed vitamen c tablet and place it into the vaginal area. (inside)
MY worry was irritating my bladder as it is acidic (the vit c pill) SHE reassured me stating that I was not ingesting the vit c tablet it was being inserted and absorbed by the skin and would not effect my bladder.
SO I guess you can take this for what it is, and compare it to your quesiton of SOY...and will it irritate the bladder. I am thinking not....as the vit c did nto irritate my bladder BUT it helped my vaginal issue big time!!

I tolerated the estrace ring for awhile, but stopped since I don't think it helped a lot. Now I'm trying pumpkin seed extract with phytoestrogens from soy (a patented combo called "goless", but so far no good results to report. It is probably more for incontinence. PV

If soy is a concern, maybe try doing a google search for active and inactive ingredients in Estrace. I do not know if Estrace contains soy, nor do I know if soy applied to vulvar area or applied inside the vagina would be any cause for concern for IC patients. That may be one question very difficult to get an accurate answer on, it seems.:( Do you know for sure that YOUR bladder is soy sensitive? I know many IC bladders are, but mine is only to a very small extent...just soy sauce and sometimes miso soup. Tofu, edamame (steamed soy beans) and other soy products in bread or other foods do not affect my bladder, tho the foods themselves may be a trigger for me, whether they contain soy or not. I wish I had something better to advise...tho women with IC may often get referred pain, irritation, burning or other symptoms referred from bladder to vagina...I cannot answer your question as to whether anything containing soy would cause vaginal or vuvlar issues, or cause referred issues to the bladder. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help!:flower:

Just a suggestion, it is not a hormon suggestion, I decided to try Replends for dryness. It is not messy (dosen't seem to leak out), has not seemed to bother my bladder at all, it lasts 3 days, and it just makes inside feel alot better, I don't notice it, if you get my drift, when it is dry it has an irritated feeling, but the relpends takes that feeling away.

Estrace vaginal or oral does not contain soy or soy products. Bioidentical estradiol products are derived from the chemical structure found in yams, and altered to make bioidentical estradiol which Estrace is.
I have used Vagifem and didnt like it. It wasnt messy, but I didnt get good results and found it slightly irritating.
I prefer Estrace cream and like the leaking, its good for the vulva.
