Ice/heat reusable gelpack?

Do you microwave your gelpack in a bowl of water or do you just heat it in the microwave?

Dear Trish -

The kind I have you just microwave the gelpack itself for a tad under 1 minute. I check it at 30 seconds so I don't overheat it.
