Hi all. I had an appointment with the URO for the 29th ,yeh, today. It was cancelled. I have been waiting 6 weeks to get into the office for the second time. The earliest appointment they can give me is the 28th of April.:( I am at the end of my rope. I went in for a UA friday, it came back clean. But this pain is still tormenting me. And I am still voiding about 40 times a day that includes the 5-9 time at night.
I see my PA-C tomorrow hopefully she well have some help with all this. It is a living hell not knowing if IC is what I really have but in my heart of hearts I feel this is what it is.
If it weren't for CMSP I don't know how I would pay for any of this. Maybe it is a blesssing I can't work right now.
Venting does help. Thank you all for being here.
P.S. I too have IBS

Oh, gypsyjoy, I am so so sorry it was cancelled :(

I know how frustrating it is to have that happen. I was seeing this uro for a while that cancelled 3 appointments with me in a single month during the time I was trying to get diagnosed... the last time she did it, I was in tears because I was miserable. My hero of a husband got on the phone and found me a new uro right then and there... and I was diagnosed less than a week later!! Switching uros was great for me.

I don't know if you can find another uro that can see you sooner... perhaps it is worth calling around to see what they can do for you??

Hi,
It is hard when we are waiting on appointments. One thing you might want to try is the IC diet. You will find it in the IC Handbook.

http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/

If food is causing you to flare that might help a little with the frequency until you can see your Dr. There is also a product on the market called Prelief. It helps with taking acid out of the food we eat.

I would also think about a voiding diary so you can show your Dr. when you go in there just how bad you have been. Write down any questions you have in advance so that you can get the most out of your Dr. visit.

Sending hugs,:grouphug:

Thank you all for your replies.
Jolene, I am taking prelief and have been for about a week now it help only a little and I started on the IC diet 3 weeks ago (that was the first thing I did when I found out what it was. (thanks to the IC web site) The first time I went to the URO I decided to start a log of how I was feeling and how often I was voiding, This before I found the info on the web site so that I could show him just how serious I am. I was feeling like he was going to just blow me off like the last MD I had for another problem that I am now having to have surgery. There are only 2 URO's in the town that I live in, 60 miles to the next possible one. If I don't get some kind of help this afternoon that will be the next step. Wish me luck.
And again thank you all for your understanding and support. It helps a lot to know I am not in this alone.:)

Finally someone is taking me seriously. I saw my PA again today and through the tears I managed to convay how miserable \I have been of late.
She was really ****** off that the URO has not seen me in 6 weeks and it will be another 4 until he does. SOOO she decided to get me on Norvasc (calcium channel blocker never heard of this)
Elavil and more pain meds that I have been taking. She is really a great PA, my sister has been going to her for years. My sister has a list of health concerns as long as your arm!
It is a relief to know she is on my side.
And on top of that she is going to recommend me for a training program at the hospital once I get this under control or at least managable!:) :) She know I will never be able to go back to my old job.
I guess some time you just have to cry louder to be heard.
Good news sure makes the day brighter. Thanks again to all of you for your support and understanding, it really does make a differents. Your all:angel: s

Glad to read your post , that you were finally able to get some help with your pain, it must be so frustrating, especially to have appointments cancelled and then to wait another four weeks, my heart goes out to you, when you are in pain, four weeks, can feel like four years, I know I had to do some waiting around until I was able to be seen, I changed uros and am very happy now with the one I have.Take care and soft hugs, Iris.:hi: :grouphug:

That is great news....I see a PA too with my huge list of problems and he has been wonderful.....and does sometimes get mad at one of my specialists. Hopefully this will help you a lot.

Wishing you continuing improvement.

Thank to all of you. Are any of you taking Elavil? If so does it help with the night time trips to the toilet? I am up 6-10 time a night haven't had a decent night sleep in ages.
I love the new smiles!!

We only have 2 Uro's here were I live and both of them don't except CMSP (Medical) I have NO income at this time and have really high medical bill .As you all very well know it isn't cheap to get or stay healthy. The Uro I am going to is doing my 1st and 2nd visit at no charge. I don't
know were I will be going after that. But my Gyno says he will make sure I get the care I need so badly.
