View Full Version : New Year's Resolutions?
Anyone here make any New Years Resolutions?
Mine this year are:
1) Exercise 3x per week
2) Complete reviewing one coursebook of American Sign Language
3) Attend 2 Deaf events per month in the community
Goals 2+3 are to prepare for an intensive no-voice class I'm going to take next summer. (I've finished ASL 1-2 at the community college & really want to become fluent.)
Wish me luck! And post your New Years Resolutions here for mutual encouragement & enthusiasm

So far my only resolution is to stick with my diabetes diet. It's a real challenge, but so very important.

To continue to see the pasion to live life freely and openly innocent through my childrens' eyes during times of stress or confusion.
To be more aware of when I am not well and to honor this, making sure I step back listen and rest and relax (still working on this...) This is a hard one...
Continue to see my body as a living being and to honor it and love it no matter what type of pain I am in, or discomfort.
To seek help when I Need it.
Continue to do yoga for donations for the food bank.
Peace

How are we doing so far?
I've done my physical therapy stretches every day this year (ok, there's only been 3 days, but 3 days is 3 days!). No gym yet because I've caught a cold. I got a little pack of those foil star stickers & put one on the calendar each day I do my PT exercises & a second star each day I do the 10 min cardio.
I think when I get 20 stars. I'll get myself 10 songs on itunes:) Yes, I'm bribing myself, or is it rewarding myself? And having new music to work out to will be motivational, right?
I'm feeling pretty hopeful & positive! How are you all doing?

Just trying to stick with my IC diet. I broke it this weekend though. I had some pizza with tomato sauce, a few sodas, and white/milk chocolate. Ugh. I don't want to blame this on living with my family but they temp me SO much.
Hey, don't worry about it, just get back on track, ok? :kissing:

I don't make them anymore, as I usually break them within a month! I plan on watching my husband's diet as he is diabetic -- (I usually make his lunch/dinner but have no control what he eats for breakfast, but he says he is watching and doing better-- we will see when he goes back to the doctors later this month!

Go to the gym 3 times a week, (get that perfect body by summer time)
and get my series 7 license!!!!
Kadi - I am taking my second ASL class this Spring! I need to practice, though - I took my first class in the Fall and haven't practiced at all since. :(

This year my family and I are trying to learn to eat more healthy food, not just a diet but learning to eat right daily. I am having problems drinking water, it just makes my stomach sick feeling, so I have been drinking water during meals, that seems to help the stomach sickness.
Kadi I would love to start exercising too, I fell again so that is on hold for right now. :bonk: My poor knees can't take much more falling. :tsk:
Hope you well Kadi,
Your IC sister, Trish

Ok-- earlier I said that I really didn't have any resolutions, as I break them before the first month is over!!
Well, my boss made mine for me this time and she said that I am to stick with it. It is getting and keeping organized at work. I am to a degree, but the problem is when I am out of the office for the day (unplanned) that they say that they can't find anything (its right there on my desk!!) So I bought a file organizer to put my folders in. The others are, which goes with this one is at the end of the day clean my desk off. The other is to file weekly--which I think that I can now, as some of my job duties were taken away about a month ago, so I have a little more time to do things.
Lets see how long I can keep these!!

1. No Alcohol
2. Ultra Strick IC Diet (no cheating!!!)
If I can do those two things this year I know I will feel better!
Happy New Year to everyone!

GO ME GO!!!

This week's progress:
So far, I've gone to the gym 3x this week as well & done my PT exercises 6 of the last 7 days:) Hooray! And I'm working hard at not letting myself get discouraged because I'm not seeing much results yet.
And on the sign language goals:
I met with a tutor this week & started going through the new book I want to complete this semester! And last week went to an ASL meetup & spent the evening signing with really nice people - some hearing, some Deaf.
So, I'm doing ok, it's really helping that I am keeping myself accountable with my stickers on the calendar & writing in my journal!
How are you all doing?
