I was wondering..I love a grill chese with white bread, butter and american single slices of cheese. Was wondering if the american single slices you know the ones individual wrapped are IC friendly? I think its just pasterized cheese. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I don't like the ones wrapped in plastic....I think they taste yucky and like...well, like plastic. I'll eat them in a pinch...I also think they're processed cheese food...not even real cheese. I'm a big fan of Land O' Lakes American white--the kind at the deli counter made with real milk (they also have a cheese food version, that technically passes as real cheese)
Like I said if I'm in a pinch I'll eat it...try Kraft Deli Deluxe Slices. I can tolerate those pretty well (they're pretty salty tho) :D

I pretty much feel the same about the presliced American cheese products. If I do have to buy the presliced/processed cheese in plastic I try to find a white or so-called "swiss" version...b/c you know that orange/yellow color is NOT natural!
But the Land O' Lakes American white from the deli, by far the best American cheese I have ever had, and that is saying a lot because American cheese in any form is by no means at the top of the list of my favorite cheeses lol. It melts really well while still retaining some consistency to it and doesn't have the plasticy or processed taste like Yvette mentioned the presliced/wrapped/processed cheeses often do. If an IC patient's diet can tolerate it, and they like American style cheese, Land O' Lakes white American is definitely the best tasting that I have ever tried.
