Hi Tonya,
I find that a cold pack really helps with that symptom. I continue to use them for a good hour. It helps to restrict the blood flow to the area so really helps to take the sensitivity away. Also a hot water bottle on the lower part of your tummy helps too. I think my V pain is referred pain from my bladder so that's probably why it helps???
Sorry you're suffering & hope you're feeling better soon.

I was prescribed Elavil for those same sensations, and after a week, they totally went away. Good luck.

Maybe you should try less pills Blondee....Your taking Xanax, Moltrin, Loritab and vistril. These are the meds that aren't working for me anymore. 1. Lidocaine Cream 2. Estrace Cream. Please try these, Maybe they'll work for you?
bye bye,

I find several things help my vulva pain. I like ice packs too and recently found this neat little two pack feminine pad sized ice packs, with liner by Smart Choice for Women!
I love them! I also use a peri bottle each time I go to the bathroom and rinse of. I also use MSM gel by Jacob's lab and have it compounded with lidocaine. Another great tool for this syndrome in the vaginal suppositories. I get mine from Kevin at Dakota PHarmacy, and they are a combination of lidocaine, valium and benadryl! I use them every night when I lay down since like you my symptoms at least appear worse!
Hope that helps you some!

I was also going to suggest maybe vaginal valium suppositories. Your doctor would have to have a compounding pharmacy make them for you. If you your doctor is able to do that, it will take a few days for you to get the order in. I've heard people sometimes grind up a valium tablet and put in directly into their vaginas. I would ask your doctor about that first. I guess they mix the ground up pills in some sort of gel or lubricant to keep it in place. Hope this helps.

Tonya, I was diag. w/ VV along w/ my IC & PFD. I too was having weird vaginal problems & my doctor prescribed meds tailored to my conditions. Everyone is so different, but you don't mention if you are on the IC diet w/ prelief. The diet helps w/ so many symptoms & I got my prelief here. I also avoid high oxalate foods. Feel better soon!

Tonya,
Please before trying any of these suggestions talk to your Dr about them!

I am sorry, was in a hurry and usually add that all things should be discussed with your doctor, the vaginal suppositories and using the lidocaine in the msm gel require a prescription anyway, so require talking to your physician! Rising off with a peri bottle and ice are pretty safe!
There is a lot of info on the site about using valium suppositories, I personally found Kevin from another patient on this forum and he has been awesome. Kevin specializes in dealing with people like us. He made my formula specific and we have adjusted the dosages etc. I am working with him right now to try to get the MSN/lidocaine gel compounded through them so it would be available to other patients as well. Kevin, is great at working with your physician to make a product that is designed for your individual needs. The number for them is Dakota Pharmacy, ask for Kevin is`1-800-290-7028. I know from other patients I have worked with that he has even helped their local compounding pharmacy to make theirs. I have found Dakota though the most reasonable price wise, I have no insurance and they ship. It is cheaper the more you buy however I suggest smal amounts initially until you find the formula that is right for you.
As far as using a valuim tablet and putting it in there,,, I know some are doing it but I would be very careful. I don't mean to be critical in anyway, but just cautious! The are additives that could be a problem besides the dosage maybe the same on the other hand it may not. So before trying anything like that I would highly encourage you to talk to your doctor. I also think the formula of the suppositories is designed to melt and stay in the vaginal tissue, beside the bladder for a longer period of time!
I do think with IC or vulvadynia we get soo desperate at times that we are willing to try anything that might help!
Hope all this input gives you some help!

But I don't. I do know the cream my mom took never worked for her. But maybe they can work for you? This is so frustrating. Not only for me, because I'm still trying to get her the right creams, but, for all the people suffering with VV. :toilet: I'm a fighter and I'll find a cream that'll work for mother, then I'll tell you what that cream is. I pray there are people who aren't suffering anymore. Keep fighting and keep looking for the right medications or shots.
My mothers Vulvo is living Hell for her, and she speaks of committing suicide a lot. But I won't let that happen as long as I'm alive.

anglico,
One think to consider with your mom is she might be reacting something in the creams.
It took a lot of bad experiences and frustration for us to finally learn that i am allergic to methlyparaben. This is a preservative in many meds. and almost all creams and gels.
Especially script meds.
It was even in my instill medications. Once we realized and now I have all preservative
meds, all my suppositories, gels etc. can contatin NO preservatives, I no longer have all the problems. I even wrote to Dr. Moldwin and he personally responded to my surprise that he felt that was definately something to consider, thanked me for the NDC# of the instill meds and said he would consider it when treating his patiens. My URO now uses all preservative free meds as well to avoid a problem with highly sensitive ICérs and those with vulvadynia!
PS Kevin, compounds everything for me preservative free too!
Hope you each have a special Christmas!
Shelly
