I just started the neurontin today! I only took one pill and I do not feel sick but I feel very weird. Almost drunk feeling? I am going to give my doctor a call on Monday . I was just wondering if anyone else felt like this ! I read alot of articles about this medicine and now I'm a little nervous! Although some people had this side effect and said it goes away I dont like the feeling at all !I think I might not take anymore until I talk to the doctor. I dont even want to take my other meds (evail) just because I feel so weird! Good thing I dont need my pain meds today .

I am sorry you don't feel good. Neurontin is a serious drug....do be careful. It is one of the safest of it's kind...but the whole class of drugs is very serious.

I don't know what drunk feels like but dizzy, lightheaded, that kind of thing is a very normal side affect with Neurontin...and why should wein onto the med.

I hope you feel better soon.

take care,

I think you are very wise to wait until you talk with your doctor before taking another dose. I hope you feel better this morning.

Warm encouraging hugs,
Donna

Just letting you guys now I finally fell asleep at 3:00 A.M my poor husband I was wreck up and down crying and how I just woke up and feel like a ton of bricks hit me. I am waiting for my doctor to call me back . I have a question am I allowed to pick my medical records up from my primary doctor. I called and was told they wont give them to me they have to mailed to the new doctor? Everyone keeps telling me to pick them up so I will be sure my new doctor has them on time for my appointment?

Sorry you feel weird, how many mg. did you take? I think this drug is wonderful bc it's helping me feel better and I just wish my dr. had prescribed sooner. I take 300mg. 3x a day and it took me a while to get used to, I was out of it for a few days. It's probably best to build up. Then my pain dr. wanted me to take 400mg. 4x day. One day of that and I knew it was way tooooooo much. It is a good drug for pain.

Wish you the best,
J

Kelly, I work for a chiropractor, and it's common to FAX med records. Doctors office may charge you if you pick up your records, and then if you lose them, your medical history is gone. There is no fee when it goes from doctor to doctor(normally)Fax takes just a few minutes, and you can call the new doctors office to be sure they have arrived.Hope this helps.....Donna L

Kelly, My urologist put me on Neurontin about a year ago. I don't have alot of Pain, only pressure and frequency. I started with 100mg 3x day and worked myself up to 300mg 3xday for a total of 900mg daily. It made me feel very spacy in the beginning and also caused hesitancy with the flow of urine, which the uro said to expect, but by the time I was up to the full dose it didn't bother me anymore. I think it helped me alittle but am not sure, because at the same time I started taking the Neurontin, I started taking the new Algonot 5 in one supplement. I know I should have not started both of them at the same time, but because I did, I am not sure if the Algonot helped or it was the Neurontin. I noticed a change in frequency and was actually only getting up once a night to pee. I only took the Algonot for about 6 months and than stopped, because of the expense. I recently weaned myself off of the Neurontin entirely and am not so sure if it was a good idea to do that. I am in a terrible flare now and I don"t know if it's because I stopped taking the Neurontin, or it's because of diet or Hormones, or who knows what. I did not want to continue taking the Neurontin due to the fact that it is a powerful drug and it typically is used for seizures, which kind of made me a little nervous. I didn't want to have to take it for the long haul.
I would much rather try to control this insidious disease with diet and supplements if at all possible. I have just ordered another supply of the Algonot 5 in one and am going to try it again. I know that it may take a few months to notice anything but I don't know what else to do. :) I also forgot to mention that I take 30 mg of Elavil at bedtime. I started the Elavil at the same time as I began the Neurontin. I worked myself up to the full 30 mg very slowly. I hope I have not confuse you with all this info. IC has so many faces that it is frustrating. We have to be on a constant vigil, waiting to fend off the next attack...:(

Best Wishes to you
Karen

Hi Kelly,

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone with taking just one pill of a medication and have a bad reaction to it. My doctor wanted me to do a three-day trial of Xanax (not for anxiety but as a muscle relaxant for the bladder and pelvic pain). I was to take only a small dose (.25 mg.) four times a time for three days and then call him.

WELL, I took one pill and laid down for a rest. Three hours later when I woke up, I also felt kind of woozy, groggy, but the worst was the major depressed feeling and then the real worst about the drug was the sharp slashing razor blade pain that was in my urethra and bladder. It was pure torture!!! And this from one pill. I phoned my pharmacist and he said obviously this drug isn't for me! Then I talked to the doctor on the third day and told him about my reaction. So I have another appt. with him this week to see what else he can come up for my severe bladder, low back and pelvic pain.

I never would have thought that by taking just one pill of a medication I could feel so horrible and ready to give up. I thought this might help you feel a little better with your reaction from only one pill also.

Take care,

LOUISE

louise,
I have to agree this is not the only medicine I had problems with just recently we tried morophine and for 4 days I took 1 pill each night I had tremors and got about 2-3 hours of sleep a night. The final night my husband and son said they tried to awake me in the morning and they were frightend .I was shocked but hubby said I didnot appear to be breathing and was unresponsive. He finally grabbed me and started shacking me and it scared me. The doctor said it was possible seizure as many of the pain meds cause me to have seizures. also hubby said this medicine made me very depressed. I suppose it did but for 4 days I was out of it...To think I was suppose to take 4 pills a day... Glad I did not.

I was on duragesic patch for 3 months since my hospitalization for pain control with the IC flareup. I went from 25mc to 50mc. Still having pain all these months so last week, (unsympathetic) pain management physician, took me off the patches. I asked him about withdrawls symptoms and he brushed me off with that still I'm on percocet there would be no problem. Well, but a bunch of bull, by Friday evening I was going nuts. Up and down, sweating, freezing, totally freaking out. I called my psychriatist and her partner called me. back. He said I most certainly should of been weened off and I was going thru withdrals. I had to go back on the 50mc patch and am going to call my lousy doc this am. I am deeply concerned because I am leaving town to Wednesday to fly down to see my family in Ft. Lauderdale. Today is my the big one for me...50. Yuk and double Yuk!!!!!! Anyway, different meds can play havic on your brain. This is a terrible time for all us. Hang in there.

Marcy Happy Birthday, and what a crummy way to spend it.
I've been on the duragesic patch for a week, since IC diagnosis by hydro dist. I'm still taking percoset, but not as much. Now though, I am more exhausted, and always nauseas. How do you spell that anyhow?
