How exactly does Prelief help?
Any suggestion on getting a good night's sleep?
Many thanks to you gals that have been sending helpful
suggestions. I sure do appreciate it too.
There is so much information on this web site that I feel overwhelmed.
Blessing to all.....Anita

i think i'm right i hope i'm right if not someone will correct me LOL i think that perlief helps because it reduces the acid intake it kind of kills the acid of the foods or drinks you take in.
as far as a good night sleep you may want to talk to your doctor about giving you something to help you sleep at night so your not getting up as offen to use the bathroom i take my lexapro a nerve pill and it helps me sleep plus alot of times i go to bed with a heating pad Oh and i normally take a dmso treatment before bed time i can't do that this week because of mother nature. but normally i do.
wishing you get a goodnight sleep soon and sending you hugs and prayers

Prelief does neutralize the acids in foods. If you take it immediately before you ingest an acid food, it helps reduce the acid. I still have to avoid most really acidic foods and drinks, but Prelief does help.

I went to the dr today and asked for something to help me sleep, since I have not had a good night's sleep in almost 2 years.
My dr was so hesitant because he felt since the problem was the peeing all night what would a sleeping pill accompolish.
He did give me a script.took it to Rite Aid.they called and said my insurance would not cover it. They called my dr back and told him there was (3 ) other sleeping meds that my ins would cover and he said.........no....Ambien was the only one he would perscribe.
And for me to take 2 Tylenol. I think I must look for another dr.
I was unable to get in touch with my uro..will try tomorrow. Thanks for letting me vent.
Very tired in Garden City......
What night meds work for you other gals?

Hi,

I bought some prelief on Friday and have been taking it faithfully before I eat and I'm watching what I eat. I can say it's helping. At least it's a supplement and not another drug to experiment with!

For the price, it's worth a try. I don't feel like I have to go all the time. It's basically calcium - wonder how that cuts down on the urge to urinate?

Thank you so much for responding.
I have noticed the frequency is lessened too.
I am scheduled for a cysto/hydro on Thursday,
and I sure hope I get some relief from that as well.
Happy Easter to you.

I just started the IC diet and bought some Prelief yesterday. So far, I'm taking it with each meal regardless of whether I'm eating acidic foods or not. I suffer from cid reflux in my esophagus and throat which affects my asthma, so I figure that it can't hurt, and I need more calcium anyway.

I'm having to wean a few items for the IC diet, such as having 1 slice's worth of avacado in my sushi today, and a squeeze of lemon juice on my salad last night. Many of the things I don't eat anyway although I'll miss the fruit. Now that I'm aware of acidic foods, I can at least be good while being bad. For example, if I feel I MUST have a little vinegar on salad, I can use rice vinegar, which only has 4% acid as opposed to the 6% in balsamic or red wine.

Learning...

Yes I am learning also what I can and cannot eat.
But it seems like some times I can tolerate certain food
items but then other times I cannot.
Thank you for your very interesting reply.

Be careful not to take too much prelief. You can actually get acid rebound and produce MORE acid. It's ok at about 6 per day.

H Indy,

Thanks for the warning. I did know about this, but didn't actually think about it. However, I'm not taking more than 6 a day anyway, although at night I've been taking a few tums when my reflux is bad. Perhaps I'll skip the Prelief at breakfast since I'm not eating anything acidic then anyway, and take them at night instead.
