I asked this before but no one responded. About an hour after I pee, the urge starts again and about an hour after that I have to go and go LARGE amounts. Does ANYONE ELSE do this too? This is round the clock and I am exhausted. I go back thurs for cysto something but am trying to arm myself with info before I go. I am on Enablex and it seems to be doing nothing. What do you all take for frequency?


My reg doctor is talking about cathing me for a few weeks for relief but I havent given him an answer yet.

Sorry.. I have never experienced that kind of symptom.. my only expirience is having bladder retention in the moring and going, and than getting the urge again and realizing I defentily did not empty my bladder the first...or maybe even seconed time. I hope your doctor and hydro can give you some answer look into PFD.

Cherie, I have the severe urgency & frequency too. My dr. is switching my meds around. At my worst I have to go every 10 min. An hour between is good for me. I'm on hydroxyzine & levsin (just two of my many meds for IC) Sanctura really helped my urgency but it gave me throat problems because it was too drying for me. I'm having a rough time right now too because the strict IC diet & new meds aren't helping as much as I had hoped. One of the great gals on here told me stress can make IC worse. I also purchased the new patient kit they sell here & it was really helpful about meds. Didn't your dr. put you on Elmiron? Feel better soon!

there are times that i am not even out of bathroom and it starts up with the urge! i agree a hour in between would be great. things I do to help would be to try to relax my body because i know 1)either nothing is there or 2) it is only a very little--teaspoon- so i try to relax and get involved with something else, i have tried meds for it : flomax worked the best. right now i am on alot of pain meds and a muscle relaxer . if it is bad a heating pad works also on bladder to calm down the bladder.

Elavil 10 mg is what has helped me most with frequency and urgency, taking it a few hours before bed also helps me sleep thru the night:)....Drinking plenty of water also very important. Best wishes,Bri:)

I can relate to the first part of this, as I rarely make it past an hour before I'm again feeling the urge to go. But for me there's never a large amount there.

Did your doctor say what he thought might be causing this?

I used the generic of this and it got that urge feeling under control. I also used utira-c (generic of urelle) along with it. My spasms were so severe that I would pee every 10 minutes for days at a time. If your spasms aren't overwhelming, you might be okay with urelle or prosed. There is no generic for prosed so it can be expensive. Unfortunately you may just need to try different anti-spasmodic meds and see which one works for you. We are all very different as to how we respond to meds. Hope this helps. Good luck.
