I have been going to dr for 6 years. Started out with blood in my urine. Was told I have an overactive bladder and began taking Ditrapan 2omg daily. The urgency and frequency became greater.
I have had a cystoscopy twice because of a small (dime size) area, and the site was cauterized. No more blood in my urine, and the twinges in the area where I pee, went away. Six months later......repeat of procedure. Last week I went for a 6 month check up and blood was in my urine again. I am scheduled for a cystoscopy with hydrodistention April 15th. Pyridium has been very helpful when I flare. The dr said he thinks I have IC....I hope
these tests will show wheather I do or not. I get up every hour, all night long to go to the bathroom. During the day I make many bathroom trips. I am so tired.
Any suggestions would be helpful @ the hydrodistention.
Thank you.

it does sound like you have ic but i'm no doctor if you do have ic at least your doctor can start treating you for it and give you something to hopefully help you rest at night.
sending you prayers and best wishes

Hi Anita, I hope that your tests give you some answers. If you have IC, some of the meds Dr's typically describe can do double duty and help you sleep (while they help your IC). Also, there are some meds that aren't just for IC that can help along with Ditropan (ditropan didn't do all that much for me at nights, for instance, but I added flexeril to it and that helped more). I know, too, that there's an anti-depressant (I can't quite remember what it's called, Imp___meme or something, that is supposed to work along side Ditropan and intensify its effects). I know that you must be exhausted and feeling down. But coming to the boards is great thing--there are always folks here who understand and who will lend an ear. Best of luck with your next Dr. visit. Write back and tell us how you're doing! Best wishes, little bear

Does your doctor know you cant sleep(because of bathroom trips) if not maybe if you give them a call then can do something for you till April 15th. Hope you can get some relief and rest soon !

Hi Anita,

I'm sorry to hear you've had so much trouble over the last few years. :grouphug: If you do have IC, you have definitely come to the right place. The ICN website and these message boards are full of useful information and lots of loving support! :)

Good luck with your cysto/hydro!! You'll do great. I do agree with Kelly, though... she suggested perhaps calling your doc and letting him know you cannot sleep because of your bathroom trips. Perhaps they can start you on something that will help. A good night's sleep is so important... everything looks brighter afterwards!

:)

Hi Anita....Welcome to the boards...it does sound like IC....I am so sorry you went through such a time of troubles with diagnoses that were not solving the problem. Hopefully now your doctor can help you get the relief you deserve.

Looks to me like you are replying correctly:)

Best Wishes,
