I was wondering if anyone has been a patient of Dr. Susan Kellogg-Spadt?

I thought that my doctor said that she was the leading physician regarding Interstitial Cystitis. However, I did a couple different searches on the internet and I am having a hard time finding out any information regarding her in relation to IC.

I found other material, but nothing with IC.

I was considering traveling to go see her, but it could be very costly and money is beyond tight. If IC is no longer her specialty than I don’t wan to invest the time or money. It would be an out of state trip, and my insurance won’t cover her costs.

I appreciate an assistance anyone can provide. Thanks so much!

If you go to http://www.ic-network.com/md/listings/Ohio.html you'll find a list of care providers in Ohio who have been recommended by other IC patients. Hopefully there is someone near you.

HI there,

When I lived in PA for 6 months she was my doctor. She was good, but no better than any other urologist I've used. She did try some treatments that completely didn't work for me. She is a woman who knows about IC so I think that is why she gets so much recognition for her work! Most urologists are men and we don't particularly want a man dealing w/such a personal health issue. I'd find someone closer to your home.:toilet::angel:

She works for Dr. Kristene Whitmore as one of the nurse practitioners out of Hahneman hospital. I've just started going there. They are in Philadelphia, Pa. I see one of her other nurse practioners & she found my VV & PFD. The two previous urologists didn't even address those complaints of mine. In this area, Dr. Whitmore & her staff are supposed to be the best. It would be a long drive for you out to Philly. Best of luck.

Thanks for all the info. I think that I am looking for Kristene Whitmore!
I will have to double check at my next appointment though.
I appreciate all of your help. When I was checking her out on the internet I wasn't finding much about IC, maybe that is why.
Again, I appreciate everyones help.
Have a great day!

Dr. Whitmore has an excellent reputation in the IC community --- she is on the Board of Directors for the ICA.

Your post is a little old...but it caught my eye. I live about 20 min from Philly and my Gyno suggested I see Susan about Vulvodynia. Supposedly, she has reputation for knowing far more about V than any other doctor in the nation. (I am questioning if it is the same person since you live in Ohio...but had the exact same name!) This all just happened this month.

When I called to get an appointment it said a certain hospital where she had been last working had closed down.

Then another doctor in my gyno office told me that last she heard, Susan was touring and educating other doctors on Vulvodynia and was not currently seeing patients. So I ended up having to go with my gyno's second choice for a V doctor.

This Susan is not an M.D., she is a Phd. She works for Whitmore in the same capacity as a nurse practitioner.

I have been seeing her for almost 2 years now. She is considered the "office guru of VV"! She did cure my VV. She has a great personality and actually listens to me when I make suggestions. She applauds the fact that I do research and always come to appts. with questions about different meds or treatments. I've had other doctors get mad at me for that! She has just bumped me up to see Dr. Whitmore due to my tight pelvic muscles along my left side. I have left side hip and back pain along with pain running down the left side of my vaginal wall. I am going to get botox on April 13 to see if this helps. Overall, Dr. Kellogg is awesome!

Hi,

Susan Kellogg-Spadt is a Nurse Practioner (PhD). She does work for Kristene Whitmore, MD in Philly. Susan IS the most knowledgeable person on vulvadynia, VV, and sexual dysfunction. She does lecture at many Conferences, so there often is a bit of a wait to get an appt w/ her. I know other NP that heard her lecture and have great respect for her. The NP in my gyn's office referred me to her, after attending on of her lectures. I believe she also participates in doing some research. (Not sure WHEN she has the time for that though!)

She is EXTREMELY helpful & knowledgeable, as are the other NP on staff. I would see them. (Amy is awesome also) Susan is a wonderful, kind, compassionate person. She does welcome you as an educated patient.:) If you have VV, Vulvadynia, sexual dysfunction issues - SHE is the person to see!

Best of luck! I hope this helps you make a decision.

Thanks for the information. She sounds like a great person! I am no longer looking at finding her. I am not having other problems, just the IC symptoms.
But thanks for the information, maybe it will help inform others.

Actually if you are referring to a practice in PA you are looking for Kristine Whitmore. She is the leading doctor of IC. You can check out their website at www.pelvicandsexualhealthinstitute.org. I am a patient of this practice and they are so wonderful.
