Hi,
I'm having gum surgery today and the dentist gave me some antibiotics. They are bright yellow and I am more scared of them than the surgery. Dyes in some generic meds flare IC. And it takes practically an act of God to get the kind that are brand name sometimes. In this case I just saw the meds the night before today's gum surgery.
Can anyone else relate to this or have these reactions to generic bright color meds? Please pray for me.
God bless,:hi:

The best advice I can think of is to tell the pharmacist that you have a problem with dyes. That way you can make a decision about which to get if there's no generic without dyes.

I have that problem. If the medicine is urgently needed & not a regular medicine, then I've just taken it & hoped for the best (so far, I've only needed to do this with Macrobid for UTI).

Otherwise...
My doctor has to write on the prescription which brand to order without dyes & then has to write that "Patient has a medical condition, Interstitial Cystitis, which is worsened by dyes in medications. Please dispense exactly as written." It usually works, but invariably causes delays in processing my meds. I finally received my 90 day supply of medicines today after ordering them over a month ago.

You have to be very aggressive about this & very organized. You can't run out & just pop by the local pharmacy because sometimes local pharmacies will help you on this & special order for you & sometimes not.

Good luck!
