Welp, the pain in my back has gotten so bad that it's moved to my hips and I'm having even more pain and more problems standing, walking or sitting:(

Has anyone has positive results with a Chiropactor? I am desperate here. My pain meds are not touching the pain and I'm on very strong meds. I spend most of my life laying down cuz it's the only way to take the pressure off of the bottom of my body. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! SOMEBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

I go to a chiropractor (actually I found out that his Mom has ic) for back pain from work and also after a flare up. I find that my lower back is tight after a flare. My chiro said that when a person is in such pain our body becomes very tense. I find that it loosens my back up a lot, but it doesn't help with my bladder pain. Actually sometimes my bladder gets a bruised feeling afterwards. I wouldn't suggest it if you are in a middle of a flare. Chiro treatments are up to the individual-I don't like telling people to a chiro-I think it is an individual decision.

i have been to a Chiropactor and after he adjusted me i was in an awful flare for a mth. so my exp with a Chiropactor wasnt a pretty one i told him he hurt me he said oh you might be sore a day or two but come back the end of this week for another ajustment i didnt go i called to cancel he called me back and wanted to know why i told him i had been in an awful flare since he adjusted me and he still wanted me to come back he kept calling for about two weeks until finally i told him there was no way he could pay me to come back to him.
But Teri if you are hurting that bad and you feel that your back may be out of place its worth a try. just because i had a bad exp. with them doesnt mean you will. you have to what is best for you and i pray it helps you. you have been threw so much already i'm still praying for you my friend i'm sending you alot of gentle hugs.

I've been going to chiropractors for years (very bad back) but 5 years ago found a woman who is both a chiropractor and a naprapath. What a difference. Naprapathic approach is gentle, rather than "cracking" the back, its a manipulation. However it takes a much longer time because its not as invasive. Most insurance companies will cover a percentage of chiropratic treatment, but not all do naprapaths. Check it out should you decide to try it. I have only gone for my back, not sure it will help IC..........It is a personal choice, and I believe the success really depends on the Doctor.........hope this helps.....Donna L

My dad (now deceased) was an Osteopathic Physician. Over the years I would have back and neck problems. He of course would treat me with manipulation.
It would generally take just once or twice and my problem was gone for several months or a year.

I'm not sure how manipulation would work with us IC'rs...

You might want to try and Osteopath, just a thought.

Teri,

I have been seeing a great chiro for about 3 yrs. Last yr. after my diagnosis he started adjusting me differently and he also does acupucture on me. He can adjust my neck and back while I'm laying on my back. In a flare both work best for me, that is if I'm able to get out of the house. Of course I'm never able to lay on my tummy.

Do you have a relationship with a chiro? If not, perhaps mine could give me a recomendation in your area. It's always best to go easy at first and just go back a few times every week to get you through it. Honestly, I have some muscle relaxants that I save for those horrible times and after a few days I'm much better.

Sending you prayers and let me know if I can help,
J:grouphug:

I've seen a chiro for 2 years. He's great. Adjusts my pelvis (along with allthe other owies I have) He's also a nurse so very compassionate. He has been learning about ic right along with me, reading, researching, talking to uro's he knows so he can do his best job helping me. His feeling is My pelvis needs to be corrected and opened up to accomodate allthe sore and tender tissue, also says that people with bladder problems have L-3 to L-5 issues cause that's where the nerves to the pelvic organs originate. SO...he also adjust those. (I notice when I'm in a flare, when I pee I can feel almost a pulling in my lower back bone.)

Take care, and good luck. find a good chiro...ok..?

Hi Teri,
sorry I missed your post. I have seen chiropractors on and off for a long time. I find ones that are gentle best as too much adjusting can cause muscle spasms. Honestly though, the most luck I have had so far is with pelvic floor therapy, as all the muscles are connected, and it has calmed my back pain down alot. I know its not the most wonderful kind of treatment, but it really has helped me.

I'm glad that's not just me (the pulling on my backbone) I thought I was nuts, the chiro gave me a funny look when I told him that, but he just said anything was possible with me!!!Of course, he had to try to figure out a rational explanation and got out his charts and started explaining why that could happen. :dizzy: I didn't much care, for once...I'm usually very interested in everything anatomical but this was one lecture I was thinking "just adjust me, ok...?"
