I have used heating pads of various types but in general I can't tolerate them when my VV or IC is flaring. I seem to respond better to cold packs. Occasionally I will use heat on my lower back for bladder referred back pain...but just for me I personally get more relief for my pain and burning sensations by placing cold packs on my belly, pelvic area, between my legs, and on my lower back...that is just me. I know many others swear by and live by the relief they get from heat therapy. Best wishes,Bri:)

it looks like its reusable because you can stick it in the micro-wave and it has washing instructions on the website. But I like the single use heating pads that you can peel and stick because they are easy to hide on your body and then when I'm working nobody knows that I'm using one. This one looks pretty bulky and obvious and I would only be inclined to use it at home. And for that I have and electric pad that works just fine. I think this would be really up to personal preference. I used to have a pad like it. A friend made one. It was made out of cattle feed (corn) and it got really hot and it was heavy and hot and wonderful. Only draw back was it smelled like popcorn when I stuck it in the microwave. I don't know what material they have filled these bags with though. I didn't look that far.

I think the one I have is filled with corn and does smell like that, it is reusable, you just reheat it in the microwave, but it does stay warm quite awhile. I like the heaviness of it on my AB. I only use mine at home and in the car.

the therma care patches and the few others i tried don't stick anymore nor do they stay warm for more than an hour or two.

I've not tried this one but do use heat pads - they offer much relief when I'm burning & sore down there. I use the small ones that are ment for arthritus. I put them under a small panty pad in my knickers. I swear by them & wouldn't leave for work without having one in place :)

I am not sure that this question belongs here, but I couldn't find a place to put it.

I have managed to burn my thighs rather badly with a heating pad when I was flaring horribly a few months ago. The burns don't appear to be fading. Has anyone else burnt themselves? Did anything help to heal the scars?

I have burned my self from the heating pads, but because I wear my pedometer to bed and the heating pad plus the metal clip were not a good combination.

Aloe works well for me. I also prefer the sticky heating pads. The ones they sell at ICN stay hot for up to 10 hours for me. :-)

I used one of those heating cushion things that are full of wheat when i had really bad pain. The ones that are microwaved and reuseable. I found that getting in bed with it between my legs was a slight relief, the heat in that area managed to take a tiny bit of the focus off the pain in my urethra, and the burning on my thighs did the same. It didn't make it better, but it was better than doing nothing.

You can use a regular heating pad in the car by buying a car adaptor. One end plugs into the cigarette lighter and the other end has a place to plug your heating pad into. You can use it for other things like a computer, etc. I think I bought mine at Best Buy or now you can get anything online. Lisa

If you get the ThermaCare brand for menstrual relief pain, those are the best for travel I think. Most other brands do not stay warm as long or stick as well as the ThermaCares, so those are all I get. The menstrual relief ones fit perfectly over your bladder and help me tremendously, I even sleep in them sometimes. I would watch them getting too hot tho, I have burned myself on those before, have a scar on my belly from it
If you're able to lie down flat, I put one heating pad under my lower back and also one on my lower stomach. Having both on at the same time REALLY helps!
