help please have blood test question

I hope some of you medical people can help with this. What is the name of the test to check your cancer markers? I had a sister die in 2005 from breast cancer. Now our younger sister has problems with ovarian cysts. Kaiser ran a test to check for cancer???
and her markers came back high. So you know we are freaking out. any info you can give me would be great! Thank you so much!!!

Was it the CA 125 test? I believe this is a fairly standard test to check ovca markers.

The Ca125 blood test is for ovarian Ca, but can also show up high if the patient has endometriosis. As an ultrasound tech, I've done transvaginal scans on patients to help screen for ovarian Ca, but you want to go to an ultrasound lab that is familiar with this.Ovarian cysts can be functional-was your sister mid-cycle or in the third week of her cycle? The radiologist would be able to distinguish the difference. The breast cancer markers are the BRCA1 & BRCA2. Your & your sister's doctors can explain about the breast Ca genes. Thank you so much! We had a sister die in 2005 from breast cancer so i know some but didn't know about ovarian cancer. Time to research! I really do appreciate the info from all!
