If you have concerns about potential side effects, you can always just purchase a few --- and go back to the pharmacy later to pick up the balance of the prescription.

the way i find out about side effect for a new medicine i'm on i go into my search engine and type the new medicine in it and pull it up i do know of some side effects of this drug that i will share with you but this is only a personal side effect i had.
i couldnt take the medicine i tried for three days my doctor told me to take one for three days 100mg then after three days go to two for three days then up to three.
i was told to start the medicine at night i did so i slept very well but i had a hard time wakeing up when i was awake i felt like i had an awful hang over and threw up icould hardly hold my head up.
I do hear people some people do well on this drug.
don't be afraid to try it because what doesn't work for one person may help you very much.
you are very wise to asked about people exp with the drug PLEASE DO A SEARCH ON THIS DRUG SO YOU WILL KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.
sending you hugs and prayers
Rhonda.

neurontin is a very hard drug to get use to. I had to go on it very slowly because one of the side effects is being dizzy and boy! was I dizzy. So, I would (dr knew I was doing this) empty part of a capsule and very slowly got up to an amount that would help with the pain.......expect about 5 pounds with that one:eek:

I actually was up to 800mg 3 times a day at one point but then I could not take it anymore, this was also for ear pain that my neurologist wanted me to take-so it worked for 2 things for me.
I would do a search on it also and your body is different than others just like ours so see how you do after a couple of days-and make sure you go over it with your doctor so he knows how you have reacted to it.
keep us updated.
Hope you feel better today;) :p

You will gain a little weight...but if you're expecting it and eat accordingly... Neurontin helped me. Give it a try. You will need to arrange not to drive until you get used to it...it made me really loopy. It took about a week to get used to it.

Hi, I dd not gain weight from neurontin. I think it is because I am also on Elmiron. Elmiron makes me less hungry and the neurontin seemed to correct that problem. So it was a wash really as one blanced the other out. I have since added Nortriptline and now I really have to watch my weight as I seem to crave sweets. But I am dealing with just a few extra pounds, not even 5. The dizzinesss for me went away in less than a week. and I built up to the prescribed dose quickly. Hope this helps! Hugs, Carolyn

I was prescribed Neurontin over a week ago. I started on the 300 mg. dose and then waited a few days and upped it to 2 pills a day. I did not like the way I felt on the drug. I felt dopey, tired, dizzy, and super hungry. Which I can't be having because I already have a weight problem. (low thyroid too) I still kept at it for 1 week and I have already gained some weight. No way can I take this drug. I am disappointed. I was supposed to work up to 3 X 300mg a day and there was no way I could tolerate that. Just the increase in hunger was a big thing for me. That is why I don't take Elavil. I hope that this drug works well for you. And, many people do take it with no problems....just not me. Good luck. Dana
