When you start reading packaging, you'll notice bagged rice is preserved with folic acid! I now buy my rice from the bins at the health food store. So many cereals and other foods that we think are ok are preserved with citric or other acids. Even vitamin 3 is very acidic. Also, brown rice is acid producing.

Hi, and thanks for the information. So far, I have had no problems with rice, even fried rice, with a teeny tiny drop of soy sauce, and I take prelief before. Take care and hugs Iris.:hi: :)

I wish i could find any form of rice i can eat. So far I go into an awful flare from all rice. I've tried at least 4 different brands of plain bagged rice both white and brown and so far i flare to all of it. I tried plain rice cakes too and plain rice cereal and flare to that too. :(

The brown rice and rice bran in particular is very acid producing. Who would have guessed! Lots of things are made from rice bran and brown rice like rice milk, rice cakes, wheat-free waffles, etc.

The problem is furthered by preserving the rice with folic or another acidic preservative like vitamin c or e.

I have learned this the hard way.
