My doctor has talked about several ways to control the pain that I have with endometriosis. One was an IUD with progesterone. I was wondering if anyone has had it implanted. Did it help your endometriosis symptoms? Did it cause i.c. pain?
Also, he talked about laproscopic surgery to remove the scar tissue on other organs. If you've had it, did it help your endo symptoms and/or did it cause i.c. pain.

Thanks!

Hey! I am scheduled to talk to my specialist at the Women's Institute in Charlotte in two weeks to discuss a laparoscopy for chronic pelvic pain (my OB thinks it's Endo). Birth control hasn't really been an option since we are trying to have a baby...i have seen on this forum that several ladies have Endo in addition to IC. I am sure someone can offer advice....i just wanted to let you know that i was "with" ya! I have taken Lortab and Tramadol for my chronic pelvic pain, in addition to IC.

Hey there

I just had a laparoscopy a few days ago so I can't comment on the results yet! I'll keep you posted.

It's also a good chance for them to have a look around while they have you under anaesthestic. I had a cytoscopy and biopsy of the bladder at the same time.

I am optimistic that it will help with bladder pain somewhat but not as optimistic as the doctors are - they have not given me any med for my bladder even though I don't believe my flares were caused by endo. The doctors think it might improve it.

But, they haven't removed all the endo from my bladder because some of it was too deep. They were burning the endo off and the deeper bits will have to cut off my bladder and bowel. I am a bit worried about the risks - I don't want a to have those organs damaged and this is something they warn you may possibly happen. They do all they can to avoid it though, obviously.

Did they diagnose your endo without a laparoscopy?

I can tell you my bladder was really sore for a couple of days after the operation but that was probably the cytoscopy/biopsy I guess.

Also, while I recover from the laparoscopy I am symptoms that are like endo! (bleeding and cramp). But this is part of the recovery and I am interested to see how the endo feels afterward.

Hope this rambling helped in some way!

Natalie

Have you had a lap in the past to diagnose your endometriosis since that is the only way to for sure diagnose it I am assuming so?
I have had many laps every couple months. I have flown to endometriosis specialist for surgery as well.
If I can help with any questions please feel free to ask.
Good luck!
