Welp, just came back from the uro.

He was a really nice doc, sorta quirky. He asked my the symptoms I was having, and said "sounds like IC" I asked if I needed a scope in my bladder, he said "yes, but I'm not one to scope paients so easily if we can treat youre symptoms." He's gonna wait to scope me. I have an ultra sound to rule out fibroids ,endo and other bladder/ kidney probs next week.
He gave a rx for Emilron and told me he'd see me back in 6 weeks. I think the appt went really well. He also said something about me having dyspurenia, which makes sense. Just hoping nothing shows up on the ultra sound. :tsk:Is it normal for a doc to prescribe Emilron without a scoping? meh, I'm happy since so many ladies have such bad doc experiences.
these emotes are fun:bonk:

I think the idea behind prescribing the Elmiron before a Cystoscopy or Cysto/Hydrodistention is to head it off at the pass. That way, if you do prove out to have IC, you have been on the med for the amount of time you are waiting to have the Cysto done.

My first meeting with my new uro went similarly. He had gotten notes from my other specialists (urogyn, uroPT) and had already suspected it was IC before seeing me. (He is an IC specialist who only treats woman with IC). He put me on three meds, a voiding schedule, a strict diet, and fluid restriction. It was almost 6weeks after that I had a sedated cysto/hydro which confirmed his diagnosis. I won't see him again for 2months for a follow-up appt.

My doc didn't mention diet, I have been following the IC diet, it's helped alot.
He also said something about a fellow doctor he know's in Boston that treats only IC, and he might send me there for more treatment....
