I voted via absentee here in Michigan....have for years. When my kids were little, I voted with all of them with me (my husband was on a business trip) and it was crazy waiting....I have voted absentee ever since.

Also!!! I almost forgot... in the chat last night, someone said that if you are waiting in line at the polls and you have to use the bathroom, to ask a poll worker to wait in your place while you go.
I bet that if an IC patient explains the situation when they first check into the polling place, they would be very happy to help out!

I had about a 45 minute wait, which I have NEVER had, I always walk right up and get my voter's card, I've never seen the polls so busy! But that's a great thing, IMO.

My husband and I voted today because every time we tried to go early vote, the lines were way too long and I didn't want to stand that long in line after I had been at work all day, plus it was chilly and my bladder is already more irritated than usual. We got to our voting precinct about 15 minutes early and we were out of there by 7:20. The lines were long so it looked like it was worse than it was, but they got us right through!
That was the fastest I had ever gotten to vote, even compared to times it was just local elections.
My advice is to not let the long lines stop you from voting. People at my office that voted today actually got through faster than those that voted early! I always like voting at my own precinct because my husband and I run into people we know all the time.

I got in line at 645 am and voted at 1015 am. I am in Suffolk VA, and I have to say that our polling place was grossly underprepared for the turnout. It was unbelievable.

I was just watching the news, they're having problems with the machines in VA.... and those lines! iyiyiyiyi it looked like it went for a mile.
Please don't let lines stop you from voting.

I did the early voting on Thursday. Had to wait a little over an hour (there was 2 lines to wait in (and when I saw the second line I thought, "Wheres the bathroom!!" Glad I did as the second line was right around an hour- line went pretty fast considering that there was only 5 machines. My friend went this morning (right before they open and stood in line for 2 hours.). I had to go to PT (for my arm )today and I ask my therapist if he voted yet, and he said he can't since he is not a citizen.. i can't believe that - after all of the years he has lived in the US. (almost 20 years) I knew he has been here for at least 7 years because as I told him I have been coming to this place on and off for at least that many years) -- anyway, so I told him he can't complain then if something goes wrong. He told me I was right, but he said he is going to watch the results and see what happens. It should be interesting.
So, if possible go out and vote!!

Hubby and I did the Early Voting thing. We were in and out in 10 minutes. Voting is so special. I feel that it is one of the most important responsibilities of being a citizen of this great country. We may not vote for the same people, but what matters is that we vote.

We ended up doing early voting, too, since my hubby commutes these days. We went last Friday morning and only had to wait about 30 minutes. Our polling place didn't look too bad today, though. My grandma (who goes to the same one as us) got in and out pretty quickly. I love being able to vote!

My son (a first time voter :)) went during his lunch break around 11:15am and rang me telling me it was about a 2 hour wait. We decided to go between 2 and 3 instead--before the after-work rush. We walked right in, showed ID, voted and was out of there...whole process took 5 minutes.
I think its wonderful so many people got out and voted. Why people get it in their heads that their vote wont count/make a difference is beyond me!
