I have an appointment for a uro Nov 7. I explained my limitations and they have a bigger room so I can bring my lift and it will accomodate it.
Question. Everyone talks about pain or burning. Are these 2 different things or do some just call the burning feeling pain? I burn but wouldnt necessarily call it pain, no stabbing or really what you would call hurting, just burning and discomfort.
thanks again
If I am posting too much please let me know.

No, Cherie...You are not posting too much. :) Post as much as you want. Your questions, concerns and thoughts are just as important as any one else's.
Since being on Elavil, my pain is always a burning pain when I flare. Yes, I consider it pain. It hurts, a lot. I feel a very slight burning sensation most days, but it is very, very slight. Not enough to stop me from doing anything. I think of it as my bladder reminding me that it is there and to take good care of it or it will burn like a fire.

I get several different feelings of bladder pain...burning is definitely one of them. When my bladder burns, it does hurt.

This is the same with me. The burning is painful and is more urethral for me. At the same time there are other pains apart from the burn which seem to be located inside the bladder itself.
One thing I have noticed here at the ICN is that IC has a variety of uncomfortable symptoms, and not everyone experiences all of them. Some may have more of one, maybe none of another, plus the variables in severity of one symptom compared to another can be different. The one thing we have in common,...it's not fun!
And no, you're not posting too much! :)

My pain is a terrible, constant burning that I feel all day and all night. It doesnt let up anymore at all. So, yes for me the pain I have I would definitely describe as burning. Like someone set a fire at the very bottom of my bladder. But I have no urethra pain, no urgency, no frequency. Go figure. We are all so different.
In the past my flares (many years ago) were very little pain, but tons of frequency and VV. Every few years I come out of my IC remission and symptoms of each flare are very different. This is the first time in my own history with IC that I have had so much pain and just pain...

It almost seems to me that my bladder is on a timer. All during the day I will not feel like I have to go at all no matter how much I drink. I have to make sure that I try to go every 2 -3 hours. It's like meditation, I have to relax and just let it happen slowly. Then sometime around 7-9 pm I will have to go and go NOW. I will feel this every hour to 2 hours all night long !! I have not had a good night sleep in years. Then sometime around 6 -8 am it all stops again. So if I do not have to be somewhere I could sleep for 4 hours straight !! The day is almost gone then but hey, I got some solid sleep. My pain is a whole nother story.

Even the discomfort and pressure I feel being constantly aware of my bladder and how much space it is taking up in my body is a source of pain for me, and is relieved by my pain meds and pyridium, nothing else helps. I don't have urethral burning or urethral pain, and thankfully I don't suffer from UTIs. But in addition to burning bladder, pressure, discomfort, I also get cramp and spasm type pain in my bladder. So there are many ways to describe pains that we get.
:grouphug: Cherie, you are NOT posting too much...you have made 5 posts:) mine are in the thousands! ;)
