I have been reading some post about white pizza and Im not sure exactly what it is? I was just diagnosed with IC over a month ago and I am trying to find a way to eat some foods that I use to love. How do you make "white pizza"? Is it just pizza without sauce? Thanks for your help.

I'm not exactly sure what others mean when they say white pizza either but I've found a way to make pizza that works for me. First I make crust from scratch. It's easy. I got the recipe from a King Arthur cookbook. I'll post it if you're interested. Then I heat up some olive oil with crushed garlic. I let it barely bubble for a few minutes and spread it on my crust. I top with broccoli, mozzarella cheese, basil and oregano. I think it's good. I still miss the old days of Pizza Hut and pepperoni pizza though.

This is also I how I make mine.. We recently just got a new Gourmet Pizza parlor down from our house and they are now making the white Pizzas!! My step son works there so I can get them to make it to my liking..woohoo.. I usually get mozzarella cheese and black olive and mushrooms, red bell peppers on mine..

Pizza Bianca is a Roman specialty. Technically it's a flatbread that's baked in a special oven and has mozz and rosemary and garlic. The dough is actually different than pizza dough but it works fine with a regular pizza dough. It's really good topped with sauteed chard or other greens and I love it with radicchio, which is a kind of bitter red cabbage.

I would love to have the recipe for the pizza dough. I have noticed now that Im on this diet, I am making more of my own foods. Which I think its better and healthier for me anyways. Thank you for your help. Im new to all of this so I really appreciate all the help from you and everyone else! This website has been a blessing!

1 3/4 cups warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 packet or tablespoon active dry yeast
6 cups flour
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon salt
Pour the water into a large mixing bowl and dissolve in it the sugar and yeast. Wait about 5 minutes until the mixture is bubbly, add your first cup of flour, then the oil and salt. Add another 4 1/2 cups flour, mixing until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl and holds together.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup flour onto your kneading surface. Turn out the dough and knead until it begins to feel like it holds together, adding in only enough flour so it doesn't stick (about 3-4 mins). Let it rest a few minutes while you clean your bowl and lightly coat it with olive oil. Continue kneading the dough another 2-4 minutes until it feels smooth and springy.
Form the dough into a ball, place it in the greased bowl turning it so all sides are lightly greased. Cover with plastic wrap and put somewhere warm. Let rise about an hour before topping.
This makes 3 thin or 2 thick 12" pizzas. For added crispness, prebake the crust for 10 minutes at 400 before adding toppings. For an even thicker crust, let the pizza rise for 15-30 minutes after adding toppings before baking. Bake about 25 minutes at 400.
If you want to make the dough ahead of time, make it with about half the yeast 8 hours or so before you plan to bake it. Cover with plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator. Take it out 15 minutes before you plan to roll out. (I never did this but that's how the recipe reads.)
I find this works best using King Arthur flour. It isn't bleached or bromated and is a bit healthier than some other brands. The recipe may sound complicated but after a try or two you'll find it easy and fun to experiment with different toppings. Good luck!

I love thin-crust really crispy pizza. We do the pre-bake thing as well, only we bake closer to 500 degrees for about 5 minutes. Then we flip the dough before the toppings go on for extra crispiness.

I want to make some white pizza at home and have been reading on here and have heard that some ppl are able to get the dough from their grocery store bakerys and even some have mentioned boboli. But I have read all the ingdnts on both of these at my store and there are just too many things that don't sound good that I should try.
Can you post the pizza dough recipe you said was easy to make, thanks.

i spread ricotta cheese on instead of sauce. then monzerella. i love it with cooked broccoli or spinach on top, yum!
My favorite is making Pizza using basil pesto instead of tomato sauce. It's very good!
Trader Joe's has a plain pizza dough & a whole wheat pizza dough without problem ingredients. I use them to make calzones (chicken/spinach/mozzarella or ground beef/red bell pepper/broccoli/mozzarella) as well as pizza. It's also good for breakfast pockets - fill with scrambled eggs, chopped bell pepper, mushrooms, basil & mozzarella cheese. Mmm.

Mine too! I make my own pesto without parmesian cheese and freeze it--then you can add cheese or not to the pesto depending on your triggers. THen the pizza can have whatever mild cheese works for you, and maybe some sauted onions and olives or even just plain.
its really good!

I always thought that referred to garlic sauce, that is normally white, or called white sauce. I get the prepared pizza shells at whole foods because they are not enriched and most things at trader joe's are.

I make a medium white sauce with a bit of garlic, pepper, and basil for mine. I also make my pizza dough from scratch.
For toppings I use left over chicken (the best is when I have left over chicken and garlic sauce from another dish I make), yellow squash, cauliflower, broccoli, and mozzeralla. I use all fresh produce and let it roast on top of the pizza when I cook it. The vegies end up still a little crunchy and sweet from roasting.

I have started to love white pizza now that I can't have tomato. I do miss pepperoni, but I load down my white pizza with veggies and cheeses. Some places make white pizza in different ways, some do it with alfredo sauce and others I have seen with no sauce, just cheese and spices.
All are yummy :)

I got mine from the new confident choices cookbook for IC and OAB. That is also where I got the recipie for the white sauce though I spice it a little different.

In NJ and NY most pizza parlors have white pizza...I guess depending on your part of the country it may be less available. I like it a lot.
It's mozzarella, ricotta, olive oil and usually garlic if you want to make it at home. You can put IC friendly veggies as toppings.

I did this the other night. I ordered a pizza from Papa John's with their whole wheat crust, and just had it with cheese and mushrooms. It was pretty good. Do you check with the place you are ordering from to ensure that the crust doesn't contain additives or preservatives? Just curious....

I just call our local pizza parlor --- they know me! I'm the "no sauce" lady. :)
