I read over the diet, I do eat a lot of tomato stuff, pasta, pizza.
So I will try to cut that out (good thing Lent is almost over!!) My questions are, how does these foods react to your bladder? Do they cause pain?
Right now I'm not having pain, so how would I know if the diet is helping me? I mentioned in my first post that I did the 3 day pee journal and I was going (before my cysto) 14 times a day. Well, today I started my 3 day, after the cysto journal and it is now 2:40pm and I have only gone 3 times!! WOW, huge difference!!!
Not good in terms of from what my Dr. said that I probably do have IC, since the hydro really seems to have helped. Which leads me to another question...
How long do these hydro's seem to help? Right now my only symptom was the urgency and burning feeling in my urethra, which are both gone. Should I expect them both to come back?
As I said, right now I am not on any medication, we are waiting the 6 months to see how I am doing. What can I do to help myself? Thanks, Tina

I have not had pain with my IC either - some major discomfort, but no pain. Yes, the diet can help with just issues of frequency and urgency. It helped me tremendously.

Here is a good write up explaining why diet can be key:

Thanks Kim, I don't even know where to start. How do you decide which foods to stop eating? And if I'm not really in pain, how do I know if it's a trigger food or not? Right now, since having the cysto with the hydro, I'm not even going to the bathroom as much. So I can't even use that.
I have to say, one scary thing reading that is about how the acid foods can effect the bladder, the first uro I had wanted me to take 1000 mg of Vit C daily. I started to but I burning so much that I stopped, at that time I thought it was the vulvodynia that was burning, but now I'm not so sure.....
He then, when I told him I was not going to take the vit C because of the burning feeling (which he dismissed as nothing) he then had me start on cranberry capsules, they did the same thing, so I stopped them too. I really don't think he believed me when I told him I burned. Thanks, I hope you don't mind all the questions. Tina
