Does anyone have urgency as the main problem? I always feel like I have to pee. That was the first sign that something was wrong. I had my first DMSO instill yesterday and it burned really bad. I felt better before I went in. I also think that I may have endometriosis on my bladder and bowel and that may be the problem. I had endo really bad and had my ovaries removed last Oct. In Dec, is when all of this started. I really never had bladder problems before. I am so depressed and my husband and I cannot even have sex anymore. I am so crabby all the time. I feel like my life is over. I just cannot stand the pressure on my bladder and I don't really know what to think?

The 'always full' feeling is my major complaint--that is since the pain disappeared. I always feel full even after having just voided.

Are you on any meds? Sometimes something like Elavil (antidepressant) or an OAB med such as Detrol, Ditropan, etc helps with this problem. Some people though, such as myself, end up with retention from OAB meds so should you attempt that route..just a heads-up.

Hang in there--I'm sure you and your Dr will come up with a med/combination of meds that will help with this sensation.

DSMO is awful and considered outdated treatment my many doctors. I went through seven weeks of dsmo instillations and got worse after each one. My doctor just looked at me like I was crazy when I would tell her how bad I was getting. I finally switched to a new doctor and she asked why I had dsmo instills. I just said because that's all my doctor would give me. She just shook her head in disbelief and said that stuff is terrible and should be taken off the market. There are other types of intills you might want to ask about. I have terrible urethral pain and the cathaters just make things worse so I've never had any type of instillations since. If you create a new post, I'm sure others here could tell you about different types of rescue instills that work for them. Good luck to you.

on the other hand I have am one who for 23 years has benefited from dmso treatments. For the last ten years I have increased to every 6 months hydro with dmso. It kept me working full time for 20 some years. My uro is also world renowned and published in female urology. Different patients . Different Md.'s > Different Treatmens. I am scheduled Monday for my next cysto- dmso at U of Michigan and I am ready. Vicky We all must look at dmso different for each patient just as the pain meds are different for each IC pt as well.
