Hi everyone!
I've had chills for 2 days now. I'm getting this about once a month and I'm tired of it. I haven't had a flare in 2 months so why the chills and sweats? I've had blood tests and everything is fine with the exception of IC. I was just wondering if any of you were going through this with flares and without flares?

I can't imagine having chills unless you're running a fever. However, I did have chills when my thyroid dropped too low. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on synthroid. You may need to ask your Dr. to to a T4 and T5 study to see where your thyroid stimulating hormone is. Best wishes! Another thing to consider is menopause. I don't know your age so that may be an unreasonable assumption. Just thought of it and decided it might be the case. If you're premenopausal some do have chills and then night sweats....

When you say one a month it makes me wonder if it is related to your menstrual cycle (if appropriate). This happens to me occasionally in the middle of my cycle, and to my sister quite badly when she gets her period. I guess this is due to hormones?

Unexplained chills and sweats are should be sorted out though.

Best of luck

Hi Sheryle!
I recently had my thyroid checked out and it was negative. I thought for a minute that my bladder was not the culprit but it is freaking out so maybe that's what it is. I don't have night sweats just yet but I am 44 so it could very well be menopause. This is day three of chills and I never heard of chills in menopause for a couple days(but anything is possible though)! Thanks so much for replying!

Teela

it's funny that i just spotted this thread. i also have a low grade fever (99.9) and chills right now. every now and then it will just pop up.

i have been dealing with this latest flare since September 1st and my OB just suggested that i consider getting a laparoscopy for Endo due to my history of pelvic pain, cysts and inability to conceive...

my face and body feels hot to the touch, i am tired and i just feel altogether icky...definitely have the chills and i am wearing a sweater with a shirt underneath! darn this IC!!!!!

Jameson77,
you've been a flare since Sept. 1st? OMG I'm soooo sorry!!! I think that I probably get this just before my period because I tend to flare before my period and then I feel IC free during my period! I know that's so weird but I lose all IC symptoms on my period.

I just feel so lousy! I have on a very thick sweater too and it's not enough! Yesterday I would take tylenol and in 4 hours exactly the chills would return. Today I'm trying to take some vitamins to boost my immune system. I feel just like you, Darn this IC!!!!!

hope you are feeling better! i have been so busy lately and have just gotten over the flu bug...i guess it's being passed around at work. i had to go to the doc i was so dehydrated! i had been drinking gatorade and some ginger ale and then on top of that, had the normal bladder/urethra burning! so i am now wondering if my chronic low back pain is related to Endo and have a consult for it scheduled for November 20th! I sure hope you are feeling better!!! :hi:

It could be hormonal, but you might want to call your gyno. I had chills/fevers once a month, but mine were caused by ovarian cysts that were producing extra hormones. A pelvic ultrasound might be in order.

Hi Jameson77,
I'm so sorry that you've been sick. The gatorade and ginger ale would've been a no no for me and could've made things worse. The gatorade has potassium in it and the carbonation from the ginger ale could cause IC patients problems. But I know that you needed it for hydration. I sure hope that you feel better soon. I've been fighting something myself. My glands around my neck are tender and swollen and my allergies are going crazy. Yesterday and today I've been laying around the house doing absolutely nothing! My hubby asked if his mom could come and stay with us this weekend and I almost passed out! It's not that I don't want her to come, but I've been under the weather not to mention having the period from Hell and now he wants me to get the house ready for visitors! I actually don't have the strength to do it but don't have the nerve to say no. Say a prayer for me as I say one for you! Uhhhggg!

Best Wishes,
Aleet

I think it is time for Hubby to pitch in and do most of the work to get ready for the visit. :):):)

Jen you could be right! I do have pain on the sides of my pelvic from time to time. I'm fighting some virus off at the moment and that could also be the culprit. I just feel really off in my body right now. I'm in the middle of a horrible period not to mention that I've been sneezing with a runny nose too. So far I'm the only one sick in my family. Maybe my immune system is low right now but nevertheless, I still feel fatigued.

I will mention what you said to my doc. Thanks:)!

I get this sometimes before my period too along with being dizzy. That's the only way I know it's coming. Not fun huh and I'm 44 years old and thought about menapause as well.

I thought about menopause but I wonder how long does the chills last? I have chills sometimes for 2-3 days straight and other times just for a day. This time I think it's because I'm fighting a virus or something:help:. My glands are swollen on both sides of my jaws and I have a sinus headache. Normally I have it during flares. I'm not as worried anymore since so many IC patients have it. Maybe it goes along with the bladder inflammation? Oh and this time my chills did come before my period like you mentioned.

Best Wishes!

Hi- I have been dealing with a low grade fever since the beginning of July. When my fever goes up I hit a wall of fatigue that just obliterates me! Strangely my bladder has not been too bad during this. I had a colonoscopy on Wed. which set my bladder off no end. The week before the test the fevers were not as bad but since the test, which was normal I have run a temp of 100 to 101 degrees almost constantly. When it happens I get chills also. I have had every blood test etc known but nothing! Has anyone heard of a tagged white blood cell test? It is in nuclear medicine. This whole thing has me SO depressed! Ginny

Hi Ginny,
having a low grade fever and chills can be very frustrating not to mention tiresome! It really saps my strength!
When are you scheduled for the tagged white blood cell test? I did read about the test. I pray that it's not too bad for you:pray:.

I sure hope you get some answers from your surgery! I'm still having a low grade fever and just went in Friday for some tests. Doc thinks I have another UTI. I started Keflex Friday. I hope we all can get some relief soon! Please let us know what your doc says.

Best Wishes,

depending on how often you are taking the ultram that could be the problem. I used ultram for about 2 years and it is really only good for short term use, like a week or so. It can cause feeling of withdrawl sooner than your average pain med. That is what happened to me anyway.

I associate my feeling always cold and tired to the inflammation of my bladder.

However, it is important to check that the temperature of the body is not less than 35 degrees centigrade (95 farenheiut I think). In that case the body is in Hypothermia and it must be taken seriously.

Hughs and hugs :hi:
